The Batman 4 out of 5 stars.

Ive been checking out new Batman items and I dont recall this series. It won 7 Emmy awards but alot of people like this version of Batman. I read a review for this season and it looked pretty good, so I bought it. The one reason why I wanted to see it for Robert Englund lending his voice to The Riddler. Wow, what a change in The Riddler! As one review put, he does look like Marilyn Manson. I like the changes to the villians and the storys range from good to poor. Not the best version of Batman but still enjoyable.

The Batman TV season 4 5 out of 5 stars.

This whole Batman series has great plots, gorgeous art, and is a wonderfully imaginative addition to the long Batman tradition! Rates five stars, AAA+++++

Batman at his animated best. 5 out of 5 stars.

After the third season, I was a little let down. The first was good, I loved the second, but the third just didn't live up to the two previous seasons. I was a little nervous about getting the fourth season but went ahead and did it anyways, and I must say that this is the best season so far. We get to see the introduction to Robin and it's GOOD. I have never liked Robin. I always thought that he contradicted the Batman so much, but in this series it seems to work. Batgirl is also better in this season than in the last. There are many additions to this season than just robin though. We also have a new Clayface, Killer Moth, Black Mask, and Harley Quinn, a Riddler back-story, a futuristic look on batman, a zombie episode, an alien episode, and the introduction to the Justice League.

Im also glad that they cut down on The Joker. I do like his character, but they were starting to overuse him and putting him in stupid situations (The Joker wannabe Bane episode). I was a little let down that there was not much catwoman, but that is something I can live with. I'm off to get Season Five and I hope that it's as good as this was.

My Top Five Episodes of this season.
1. Strange New World
2. The Joining 1 & 2
3. The Everywhere Man
4. Riddlers Revenge
5. Artifacts

Keep in mind the focus 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This show is great. Everyone needs to keep in mind the intended audience here, namely smaller kids. My 6 and 3 1/2 half year olds love it, and I enjoy watching this series with them. The stories are not that scary and not too complex for young minds to understand. The most complex of this series, the last one with Clay-face took a lot of explanation to my 6 year old.

It's right in the title of these DVD's (Kids Collection). I'm just sorry there aren't any new ones at this point in this line.

Better than I thought it would be. 4 out of 5 stars.

I remember when this show first came out, I wanted nothing to do with it. I remember thinking "wow, looks like a campy version of the 90's show". Well, I hate to admit when I'm wrong but here it goes... I was wrong. I've always been a batman fan. As a kid I would watch the 90's show every chance I got. Like every batman fan, I was so excited when "The Dark Knight" came out. After I saw it twice in the theater, I pulled out my old graphic novels and re-read them. I also pulled out my 90's animated series dvds and re-watched those. I read some reviews of "The Batman" and after seeing the first season at the store for 12.99, I decided why not. While there are some flaws with this series, at least in the first season, there are some great pros. I was one of the ones that HATED the way the new joker looked, but to be honest, this joker seems more like the joker from the comics then the other one from the old series ever did. He seems crazier, like he doesn't care to get caught or not, and after a while his looks grows on you. My only complaint is that it gets a little redundant after a while. Some of the episodes almost seem similar, just with a different bad guy. We have to remember though that this is the first season and lets be honest, the first season of the original batman series had its flaws.

These are My top five favorite episodes of this season.
1. The Bat in the Belfry (Classic Joker)
2. The Rubberface of Comedy/ The Clayface of Tragedy
3. Traction
4. The Big Heat
5. The Man Who Would be Bat

So, there you have it. I would highly recommend this. I am in the process of watching the second season and once it is done, I will make sure to write a review for it also.

oh yeah, another problem I had with it is Mr. Freeze. They went with the classic story of his character instead of the poetic one made in The Animated Series, and it really doesnt work. The writing in that episode is terrible also because there are a bunch of bad "ice" puns throughout the whole thing, it almost feels like you are watching the Batman and Robin movie again.

Mediocre Ending To A Solid Series 3 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I'll come right out with it; I wasn't enamored with The Batman from the onset. While it was great that somebody has decided to bring the legend of the Dark Night back to Saturday mornings in a time when the nation was collectively just coming out of the first wave of Japanese-inspired card-based animation (Pokemon, Monster Rancher, Dragon Ball Z, etc.). The problem of course was that Bruce Timm and company had done such a commendable job of transferring the moody, dark vigilante -style Tim Burton had introduced fans to in his 1988 film in Batman The Animated Series throughout the 90s. Comparisons were inevitable and while The Batman was brighter and certainly toned down, over time I (like many others) began to come to appreciate the show for what it was (rather than how it compared to TAS). There were ups and downs along the way; the biggest downer for me personally was the introduction and constant use of the "Bat Brats", Robin & Batgirl. The second came in the form of the Rogue's Gallery: a brood so interesting that I would have imagined nobody could possibly screw it up. There has traditionally been way too much usage of the dreadlocked Joker while long-standing staples such as Mr. Freeze and Two-Face have been non-entities.

For the 5th and final season, the producers followed in the footsteps of Bruce Timm and company once again by making the transition over to the Justice League (and the Batman's honorary part-time membership). In and of itself, this was a wise move in my opinion as it opened up a whole new set of situations, partnerships, and villains to battle. This works brilliantly several times throughout the 13-episode season but for the vast majority of the time, the link-up falls way short of the dynamic the 2000's incarnation of Justice League presented to spoiled fans such as myself.

Rather than a continuing story-arc with the Justice League (and that was entirely possible considering the material), the JL episodes are simple stand-alone encounters separated by very typical blow-off episodes that would have fit in very well in the second or third season. Again the writers slipped into Joker mode with a whopping triple back-to-back run while veterans like the Scarecrow, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Clay Face, and the superbly done Riddler make not a single appearance. Worse still is the fact that the decently presented Firefly becomes a ball of living radiation early on in the season and is never heard from again.

All in all, in keeping in mind the 6-11 age target demographic, I realize that I'm certainly coming down a bit hard on the show. That said, it's tough to celebrate concepts such as trying to steal an entire building by floating it away or a runaway mine-cart scene straight out of Indiana Jones certainly don't push the limits of creativity either. I conclude that this effort is probably most closely on par with the efforts of the second or third season of the show. The fourth raised the bar so high that I fear there was only one direction for the 5th to follow. I'll certainly miss The Batman and cling to the hope that Cartoon network's new series: Batman The Brave and the Bold will be adequate enough to satisfy the Gotham fix for those of us who simply can't get enough.

The Batman- The Complete Second Season....... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Season Two of The Batman pitted Batman against the likes of: The Riddler, Ragdoll, Hugo Strange, Killer Croc, Spellbinder, Solomon Grundy among other notorious villans. During which, Commissioner Gordon comes into the show's setting, with the departure of Ellen Yin(whom you all should know as Ethan Bennett's partner on the force). The Batsignal is introduced, as well, which is especially cool since it is a part of the Batman mythos. The show is starting to pick up a little more steam as far as episodes are concerned and more villans are introduced. I must say, I really like the show alot. I plan on continuing getting every season that I can. Look back here at Amazon for more reviews from me.....Same Bat-time, Same Bat-channel.... ;)

On to season two 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

After watching seasons five, four, and three in that order, a pattern that started out by coincidence and continued on by design, it was time for season two. The first obvious observation is that there is no Batgirl or Robin, with the two forthcoming sidekicks supplanted by one Detective Ellen Yin. The other primary observation is that this season occurs earlier on in Batman's career, when he is still considered somewhat of a vigilante outsider more wanted by the law than trusted or embraced by them, except of course for the aforementioned Ms. Yin. The episodes start out on a more welcomed serious note, but a few still perplexingly and regrettably degenerate into that exasperating silly mentality that the creators apparently thought was an essential ingredient for its' appeal, but instead just unfortunately became its' main albatross throughout its' entire run. Frivolity is one thing, inanity is another. Indeed this was aimed at a younger audience, but it didn't need to be dumbed down because of this. Children are more intelligent than given credit for. As with all the volumes, there are strong and weak episodes, with the new Marilyn Mansonesque Riddler shining in one of the former, and the redundant and gratuitous overuse of the Joker, and especially the painfully annoying Penguin, comprising many of the latter ones. The animation continues to excel, with the fight scene between Bats and Killer Croc being a great example of its' eye opening brilliance. You can practically feel the punches as they land. The BatJoker episode contained elements that illustrate and exemplify both the strengths and weaknesses of this cartoon as a whole. Some parts are annoyingly and childishly silly, while others are wickedly funny and sublimely inspired. Talk about encompassing the total spectrum. The impressiveness of certain aspects of this cartoon makes one ponder at times about how close this version of Batman came to being something truly special.

Batgirl, that's what.

I really did like the first season and I loved the second. So, I was really excited to see the third. I've never been a big fan of batman having a sidekick, but I did like the fact that they were bringing in Batgirl before Robin. That is something that's never been done before. The good stories are still there but the impact isn't. There are some very great episodes in this season too, probably better than any on the second, but there are also some that are just downright bad. Batgirl really did bring the show downhill, to me that is. Her dialogue is horrible, I know she is a kid, but it's almost like they keep trying to remind you with making her talk constantly. I will admit, about halfway through (The Laughing Cats), she did start to grow on me a little. She was starting to feel like she belonged. I guess the series just couldn't think of a better way to bring her in.

I am also very very very tired of (I hate to say this) the Joker. His crimes in this season were horrible. I'm a huge Joker fan and loved the episodes he was in last season, but this time it seemed like they were just using him because he is the joker. The episode "Brawn" just seemed like it could have been a lot better if they would have just used Bane. We do need more of Bane, and I hope to see him later in the series. I was glad to see that they cut down on Penguin a little. Didn't like the first episode with him (A Knight to Remember) but I did like The Icy Depths a lot.

I also liked the build up to Hugo Strange, and was very happy to finally see his character come out. I also did like the idea of someone going after Bruce Wayne.

My Top 5 episodes were
1. Gotham's Ultimate Criminal Mastermind
- D.A.V.E was a great idea for a villain and to put Hugo behind it was even a better one
2. A Fistful of Felt
- A classic Ventriloquist story, with Strange pulling the strings.
3. Thunder
- The one episode that I did not mind Batgirl at all. Everything about this one just seemed right.
4. RPM
- A good story to introduce a new batmobile
5. The Icy Depths
- Even though I do not like this version of Freeze that much, he is in some pretty good episodes.

So maybe after I watch this again, I might start to appreciate it more but at the time being this is how I feel about this season. Also please remember, these are my opinions and you may feel different. I would still recommend it for what good there is.

KIDS HATE THIS SHOW! 1 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This version of Batman is for morons! My 12 years old cousin came to my house to stay in Christmas week. He told me that he watch this miserable show on TV. He told me about the atrocities that criminal producer Sam made with Batman.

I told him that I have Batman cartoons in my DVD stand and he told me he wanted to watch it. Immediately, I picked up my two seasons of the 90's Batman TAS serie and my four animated movies for him to watch. So I put him to watch the first season of Batman TAS. And guess what? He LOVED IT! He also told me he wanted a copy! He told me as we was watching "Uncle, I like this cartoons more than the ones on TV".

Do yourself a favor: avoid like the plague this DVD and buy a Scooby Doo cartoon for your kid, instead of this. He will thank you.

with Marylin Manson as The Riddler! 3 out of 5 stars.
5 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I'm about as big a Batman fan as there is. I've always believed the best superheroes can appeal to every age. Batman as an icon does. But "The Batman" as a morning cartoon does not. Just by deciding to air this show this day in age is asking for inevatable comparisons to "Batman: The Animated Series". That show in its own did things to make it unique, so I will try to avoid compare and contrasts (Because BTAS pounds the new show into oblivion).
What doesn't work for this show is its deviation from the source material: It's too action oriented, with little emphasis on Batman's detective skills (odd, considering he is a trademark of 'Detective Comics'). I like the fast paced battles, and the different 'fighting styles' of the villains, but the fact that some of them even fight at all is ludacris. The art doesn't quite work for me- I half expect Jackie Chan to guess star every week!
Bruce Wayne: Younger and better looking. We get the playboy billionare great. But where's the business man? And he doesn't seem plagued by a tragic past at all.
The Batman: Looks cool, moves cooler. I love the Batmobile's trail effect! Don't love the batwave- can we say Adam West?
The Joker: Great menacing voice. His ability to be amazing at hand-to-hand combat is just stupid. The dreadlocks are...interesting.
The Penguin: Love the 60s TV show laugh. Best representation yet. This is the only character that's different from BTAS and STILL works. His ability to be a super-fast fighting athlete is just stupid, though.
Catwoman: The 'mousey' look is 'borrowed' from Jim Lee's art design, and takes some getting used to. I like the whip doubling as a tail around her waist. Her fighting ability makes sense. She's always been a sexy character and they don't fumble there.
Alfred: I actually can't stand him here. I know they are trying to give him his due, but he keeps bugging Batman to stop being Batman. Why watch a show where the main character is prodded not to even exist? His fake accent is not as good as BTAS' fake accent. For a butler, he sure is out of line sometimes.
Clayface: The best story they've done. I wish they gave that attention to Mr. Freeze. (who was just a common crook in the comics, you guys). Dropping the wife act was a huge mistake. And as for Clayface, there have been many clayface personas so I don't mind this origin. I'm glad we're seeing more ethnicity in villains too.
The Riddler:......uh,...um....His riddles are excelent. I guess they tried to make him scarier. His abilities at hand to hand combat are stupid!
Man-Bat and Scarface are portrayed okay. I actually think Bane and Killer Croc are better than I've seen before. I'm intrigued to see what they will do with villains to come, especially my favorite who we've yet to see: Two-Face. I appreciate attention given to other Batman rogues such as Firefly and Cluemaster, and new faces like Det. Yin are always welcome. But the lack of familiar faces like Gordon, Lucius Fox, and Leslie Thompkins make Gotham feel a little lonely. There should be more pedestrians walking around to breath life into the city. I guess everyone hides inside. Say what you want about this old-school-meets-new-school interpretation of the Dark Knight, but this show definately knows what it's trying to be.

The Batman 5 out of 5 stars.

True to the current sweeping revisions at DC, this series allows both kids and adults to enjoy every episodes newances, while not forgetting the roots of the character. This is a great set to introduce newcomers to the characters as well. You get what you pay for with this set, well worth the money.

Not cheaper 1 out of 5 stars.

I just thought it would be wrong of me NOT to review this product, although I did not buy this particular one. If you buy each season individually, it's CHEAPER than buying the set, and the set (based on the product details) doesn't come with anything different. I highly recommend buying the seasons individually like I did. For the record though, I do like the show. Particularly the earlier episodes actually.

good product from amazon.com. the batman first four seasons on dvd is a new take on batman in the animated world mostly directed to children or young teens. this new animated series had the daunting task of following the emmy award winning batman the animated series. so all things considered i thought this group of people responsible for all aspects of the creation of this series did a good job of retooling the batman franchise and taking a new and fresh interpretation of the batman. i would recomend this product for children and diehard dark knight fans.
