this was purchased as a gift but I was very impressed with how fast I received it. Of course it came from your warehouse in Phoenix and I live just down the road in Avondale but nonetheless I had it right away which was impressive.

A BIG LOVE CLASSIC!! BILL PAXTON AND CAST ARE BRILLIANT 5 out of 5 stars.

what can i say about big love...love it or hate it but you cant ignore it . its a great show. hbo does it again with the classics like with oz, the wire and now they look into the world of polygamy. a strange world but a entertaining world. will you love the show yes you will...you will love the cast especially bill paxton who is such a underrated actor. i love his work like a simple plan and one false move. i love his character bill because his character is such a complex character....you want to hate him love him, you laugh with him, he can be a control freak with his wives, he can be scary but i love his cut throat business deals where he will do what it takes to secure his very large family. he is already rich but he will get more if it means that he has to scam his way thru everything. that is what i love about the show is that he is such a greedy person. there are sad moments like episode where barb was going to be mother of the year. that is a very powerful episode. when you watch these episodes keep an open mind about the show. dont judge it right away till you seen all the stories. if you are looking for graphic sex scenes it has it here. barb doesnt really get naked but his other two wives nikki and margene do. barb does a lot of BJs in the show. i have no idea why she does a lot of that i mean she got butt naked for basic instinct go figure on that one. but for the most part....the stories are really good that looks into the polygamy world its a very disturbing world where you seen men with dozens of wives and the women in the compound have no real say. the men are total control freaks on the compound. but what i love about the show is how bill and his family try to intergrate with the rest of society but yet have to hide their family from the world because it is against the law. i also love the relationship between the wives its like there is a good one, an evil one and the bossy one. you get to see the jealous behavior when it comes to bill and how they join together to get what they want from bill. they can also be nutty too like when the wives were working out their wills or when nikki has a shopping addiction and it will cost the family loads of money. you will see for yourself what i am talking about. so what i am saying is that this is a great show. its worth buy. amazon does have it cheap here i seen in stores that they want 90 dollars for this collection i say they can keep it if its 90 dollars. if you are waiting for the price to go down that is understandable too. but its worth buy when you are ready to get your hands on it! A plus!

This show is a very interesting drama... Its a lot like Desperate Housewives except that they are all married to the same man. Creative writing and interesting plots. I am looking forward to the next season!!

The Wheels Fall Off 4 out of 5 stars.

Great intrigue as Bill's perfect world starts to fray at the edges. Nicky, surely the least likeable wife, wrangles with her money demons. Barb renews her attempts to placate and mediate impossible situations for love of Bill and Margene makes efforts go her own way.

The threats hinted at in series one emerge powerfully in this series because it was too good to be true. Veterans of series 1 knew that and the narratives which drive series 2 will please them. Bill's oldest children have to find ways to deal with their weird family which adds an extra level of intelligence to the script.

Big Love Season 2 5 out of 5 stars.

Shows a different point of view on the FLDS. Great Cast. Very well acted. Loved it.

Enlightening Entertainment 5 out of 5 stars.

In Season Two of Big Love, the Henrickson family finds that the challenges of being one, big, polygamous family is just beginning.

Season One of the show leaves off with Barb - Bill's first wife - not winning the mother of the year award, Margie (Margene) discovering that she is pregnant, and Roman Grant (leader of the polygamous compound at Juniper Creek) being seriously wounded. But Season One turns out to be child's play in comparison with the events of Season Two.

In Season Two, Nikki (Nicolette) - Bill's second wife - is more manipulative than ever, leaving the audience wondering just how far she'll go to become first wife. Bill, who for all of his faults appears to be a decent person in Season One, also becomes more deceptive (both at home and in his business dealings) as he secretly courts a woman that he considers for a fourth wife and wrests a gambling company named Weber Gaming away from two polygamous factions.

The political intrigue surrounding Juniper Creek and the Grant family also becomes more pronounced in Season Two, with many unexpected twists from characters such as Alby Grant (Nikki's brother), and Adaleen Grant, Nikki's biological mother.

The most notable difference between Season One and Season Two however is the focus on how the Henrickson's secret life of polygamy affects Barb and Bill's two oldest children, Ben and Sarah. Sarah, the Henrickson's oldest child, becomes resentful of her parent's choice as the season progresses and takes action in the last episode of the season to ensure that she never makes the same choice as her parents. In contrast, Ben, (now sixteen in Season Two) begins to romanticize the idea of leading a polygamous life like his father. He ends his relationship with his girlfriend and beings to court two girls (twin sisters) from the compound at Juniper Creek.

With each event that unfolds in Season Two, Big Love fights past being just entertainment and tackles the hard questions of polygamy and the LDS fundamentalist lifestyle.

The bottom line is that Season Two of Big Love does not disappoint; there is no adequate way to express how tastefully, artfully, and successfully the staff of Big Love portrays what is considered difficult subject matter. Each event that unfolds in Season Two of Big Love fights past being just entertainment and tackles the hard questions of polygamy and the LDS fundamentalist lifestyle.

While some individuals may find certain aspects of Big Love offensive, I hope that people will be willing to look past something that might make them uncomfortable to an experience that is both entertaining and highly enlightening. It is especially a must-see series for anyone who is interested in shows that deal with religion or the psychology of cults.

Tip of Advice 5 out of 5 stars.

I just purchased these on Amazon.com and I wanted to let consumers know, if you buy seasons 1 and 2 separately, it totals out around $10 LESS than buying them together. Not sure why, youd think itd be the opposite!! I have Amazon Prime, and I ordered this one days shipping too - which means if you used the free shipping, it would be $18.00 less to purchase them separately :)

I've heard good things about this show, so I thought Id try and catch up and watch the first 2 seasons before the 3rd premieres in January!!

Great stereotype busting show...serious and funny and lots of "loving" to go round 5 out of 5 stars.

I love TV series that deliver great entertainment and social commentary in a non-preachy, stereotype busting way, that really make you think and laugh, and sit on edge of your seat, all at the same time. This series is close to the top of my list of such. (Dexter, the HBO series--switched to network CBS in 2008 is another)Dexter.
After reading Jon Krakauer's Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith I inevitably acquired a most negative view of Mormon fundamentalism, especially polygamy. This series made me reconsider my verdicts on Mormonism, and even (never dreamed I'd say this) on polygamy itself. I still believe polygamy is a landmine with the odds against its success pretty high. But the series shows how it has some novel advantages over monogamy, if the husband and wives have love, a sense of humor, and lots of grit and flexibility....and--absolutely a key--if hubby truly loves all wives "THE SAME" (I know, this is Solomonic long shot! Bill pulls it off here though, in quite an endearing way!).
Be ready to chuckle endlessly (e.g. at Bill;s 'heroic' attempt to satisfy all three high-sex-appetite wives, and at Bill's parents' over the top schemes) but also to be serious, thoughtful and root for Bill's kids' realistic and poignant struggles with life in Mormon Utah, and his brother's almost heroic sbility to remain a good man in the nest of a Mormon fundamentalist "prophet" Roman (Bill's wife #2 Nicky's father).
Season 2 manages to cast ALL the characters in an even more morally ambiguous, and yet simultaneously more likable, way than Season 1. Although some scenes are almost slapstick but hilarious, others are totally 3 D, melancholy, and believable. Be prepared to LOVE BIG LOVE!
