Better than Expected 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I watched the entire series without ever having seen the movies so I knew very little about what Terminator is about. The show was much better than I had expected. It took a little while to get a handle on the background but, once I had an idea of what was going on, I liked the show. I am ordering the DVDs for my boyfriend because he did not get to see the show and I know he will enjoy it just as much.

Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The Complete First Season 5 out of 5 stars.

Summer Glau is awesome. This show is awesome - most television shows are garbage - it's on the same level as Firefly, and Lost (especially Season 4). Just so you get an idea of what I think is crap: Prison Break, 24, Heroes, House, etc., etc. So, if you don't like the shows I don't like, and like the shows I like, you'll love Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Sarah Smile 5 out of 5 stars.

Great beginning, now let's see this story unfolds and characters/ characters' relationships grow stronger. Great acting, especially Summer Glau and Brian Austin Green.

It's About "Time" 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Though shorter than the previous three seasons of the show (partly due to starting in January, and partly due to the writer's strike), the fourth season of LOST is just as compelling as ever.

In reference to the main "mythology" plotlines, for the first time this season the real possibility of rescue is touched on. Also, a dramatic shift (as a result of the Jack vs. Locke feud) is made in the way the castaways are aligned on the island, and as a result we learn that perhaps Ben Linus has not always been the leader of the Others. Finally, picking up on a seemingly forgotten plot thread of a past season, this season really delves into the notion that the perception of time on the island is not the same perception of time in the outside world.

As for the more personal, dramatic storytelling that LOST has become known for, this season picks right up where season three's shocker ("we have to go back, Kate!) left off, flashing forward into the future instead of back to the past. By doing this, the writers/producers were able to keep the dramatic stories fresh, essentially revealing the future location of certain "Losties" and then filling in the gaps as to how/why he/she ended up at that point.

To conclude, the fourth season of LOST keeps up the show's high-quality tradition of mind-bending plots (this season is heavy on those with the time-altering angle), action/adventure, and compelling drama. By the season finale, when the person in the coffin is revealed (and you will be dying to know how he/she ended up there), the show will have taken on almost a completely new "real time" (perhaps episodes will now flashback from the future?!). Let's just say that it will be a long wait until next January, when the fifth season hits ABC.

Warning: Comedy, Sex, drugs, bad language OH MY!!! 4 out of 5 stars.

Californication is a wild, funny, and an enteraining show about Hank Moody a washed-up writer from NY who moved to LA to make it big. It didn't work out that well and as a result he cannot write!

Hank drinks and womanizes while trying to win back his ex while raising his 12-year-old daughter. He is also being blackmailed from the ex's boyfriend's daughter.

WARNING: There is a lot of fornication is almost every episode and a lot of swearing that probably isn't necessary. You can make a great show without showing every sex scene and saying the F word in every other sentence in which it gets annoying after a while but don't let that stop you from checking out this show.

To Duchovny fans you will see the softer side in Hank's character as he has shown in The X-files and Return to Me in which makes him attractive.

The relationship with his daughter and his ex that is sweet. There is a connection there that no one can describe unless you have had experienced both. This is what keeps me tuning into this show. I will definitely check out the season 2 when it comes out on DVD!

Simply not worth the price. 2 out of 5 stars.

I'm a huge fan of Judge Judy, I've watched hundreds of episodes over the last ten years. I guess that's obvious though, why else would I have purchased this DVD?

Well, the DVD is disappointing. It only has 9 cases, none of which are particularly long or much more interesting than the show itself. It has a couple 60 minutes interviews that are cool, just because it was neat to see Judge Judy in her former "life" so-to-speak and with her family. But, all said and done, this DVD isn't even worth the $12 asking price.

If I buy a DVD of a show like this, I expect to at least be given more than an hours worth of cases and some slapped-together "extra" content. I would not recommend purchasing this DVD as you are better off just watching the show.

Editorial Review:

The successful courtroom television series JUDGE JUDY first premiered in 1996 and was the inspiration behind many reality shows such as JUDGE HATCHETT and JUDGE MATHIS. This compilation features nine episodes where hard-nosed Judge Judy Sheindlin arbitrates small-claims cases and dispenses intransigent rulings. As with Anne Robinson in THE WEAKEST LINK the popularity of the show is based on Judge Judy s caustic personality as she repeatedly scolds the plaintiffs for lying or making irresponsible choices.System Requirements:Running Time: 105 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 783722274316 Manufacturer No: 27431

Editorial Review:

The feature film The X-Files: I Want to Believe is a satisfying if unspectacular installment in the X-Files series, taking place an unspecified time after the show's nine-year television run. Former agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) is now a doctor, while Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) is being hunted by his former agency and living in seclusion. He and Scully are summoned back by a case involving a missing agent and a former priest (Billy Connolly) who claims to be able to see clues to the agent's whereabouts psychically, though his initial search turns up only a severed limb. Don't expect the usual cast of characters; the FBI has completely turned over (except for the George W. Bush portrait), and the only reason Scully and Mulder are back is because agent Dakota Whitney (Amanda Peet) remembers his success on similar cases involving the unexplainable. Don't expect the same rogues' gallery either; unlike the previous X-Files feature film, which was inextricably linked to the series' convoluted mythology arc (and served as a bridge between the fifth and sixth seasons), I Want to Believe is a stand-alone piece that makes use of the series' roots in horror/sci-fi and moody Vancouver, B.C., locales. Also unlike the previous film, which was almost self-consciously shot for the big screen, this film is on a smaller scale, like a double-length episode of the series. But it's still a good reminder of the creepy vibe that hooked fans for years. And the relationship between Mulder and Scully? It seems to have resumed pretty much where it left off, at least when you take into account the long period of separation. But stick around for the end-credit sequence to take in all the possibilities for the future. --David Horiuchi

Editorial Review:

A quirky drama with moments of startling originality, Life: Season One concerns Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis of Band of Brothers), a cop who spent 12 years in federal prison for murders he did not commit. Exonerated by DNA evidence, Charlie receives a multimillion-dollar settlement for his troubles and returns to his old job, though now as a detective. Cleared of the crime, Charlie still faces skepticism from his law enforcement brethren and the impatience of a new partner, Dani Reese (Sarah Shahi), a former drug addict squeezed by her superior (Robin Weigert) to find reasons to boot Charlie from the force. None of this hostility, however, compares with the terrible time Charlie experienced behind bars, where a former cop is everyone's punching bag. Charlie's sanity, saved by studying Zen methods of non-attachment, remains with him after he is released into a digital world, Charlie has a lot of catching up to do, but it is his post-prison unorthodox manner and tendency to speak without thinking that prove jarring for colleagues and crime witnesses. Still, it is easy to root for the guy and appreciate (non-attachment aside) his fondness for the good life: a mansion, fast cars, beautiful women, and lots of fresh fruit.

The pilot episode is a knockout, the kind of show featuring moments one has never seen before, such as a scene in which Charlie is forced to shoot a suspect and then talks him through an almost dream-like death. Subsequent episodes are a little uneven in quality, but the overall package is quite compelling, particularly as Charlie quietly solves the mystery of the murders for which he was blamed. Throughout, Charlie's religious transformation in prison collides with his darker impulses toward possible revenge, making Life a fascinating study in conflict. --Tom Keogh

Women's Right to Vote 5 out of 5 stars.

Great video that needs to be seen by all women so they can appreciate their right to vote. Story is not often seen in such detail in history school books.

Awesome! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a must see movie for everyone....especially girls. I've loaned my copy to my son's History teacher (7th grade, and studying the "roaring 20's"). I had no idea the indignities, disrespect, and abuse these women suffered to win American women the right to vote! It's something I never thought about. Why, because I've always had the right to vote, because of these women. POwerful!

Thank You Ladies!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

When I watched this movie I just kept saying "THank You Ladies, for what you went through to get our vote!" This movie was so compelling and passionate for what they believed in and stood for. Hillary Swank was great as usual. I always knew that women went through a lot in order to get us the vote, but I never dreamed it was to that extent! I have always voted, and this was an election year for President and I was very excited to vote and let my voice be heard. Thanks again to all the Ladies that helped to give me that privilege. Don't ever take that right for granted. If you are undecided about voting then watch "Iron Jawed Angels" It will touch your heart and soul and make you feel proud to be a woman!! I reccomend this movie for everyone!!

This product is fantastic!!! My grandsons love Elmo and they sing and dance with Elmo and his friends through the entire dvd; especially the 2 year old. I only wish that the length of the show was longer than 30 minutes. They should come out with The Best of Elmo 2.

Very cute! One of my 22 month old son's favorites. We have seen many of the Sesame Street DVDs (including Elmo's World). With the real background, catchy songs and the cute story line this one keeps us coming back.

Great for the kids 5 out of 5 stars.

Kids just love Elmo, no matter how much adults may not feel the same way, though I do admit I am somewhat entertained by him. But my son (2-1`/2) absolutely loves him, so that is what really matters. I try to limit television/video time and a one or two 1/2 hour breaks during the day and this is a good DVD for those times - you usually cannot go wrong with CTW.

Season VI is every bit the action, excitement, drama......as seasons I-V. We watched it until 4am without realizing how much time had passed (we are normally early birds!!) We do not have the patience for the week to week suspense and enjoy watching the whole season, commercial free. Anticipating season VII on DVD.....unfortunately this will be the final season :-(

As good as ever 4 out of 5 stars.

I personally love this show and a big time fan of M Chiklis. Another great season and many breath-taking moments. I was little annoyed with the character which was played by Forest Whittaker but MC took care of him as he always does!

I cant wait to see what will happen between MC and Shane!

Very much looking forward to the final season of the show.

Editorial Review:

Season One
He pops pills, watches soaps, and always, always says what's on his mind. He's Dr. Gregory House (Emmy nominee Hugh Laurie, Blackadder). Producers David Shore, Bryan Singer, Katie Jacobs, and Paul Attanasio haven't rewritten the hospital drama--at heart, it's a cross between St. Elsewhere, ER, and C.S.I.--but they've infused a moribund genre with new life and created one of TV's most compelling characters. More than any previous medical procedural, it resembles Attanasio's underrated Gideon's Crossing, but House is lighter on its feet. As fascinating as he is, the show wouldn't work as well if it were all House all the time (that would be like Sherlock Holmes without Watson or Moriarty). Fortunately, he's joined by an intriguing cast of characters, portrayed by a combination of experienced vets (Omar Epps, Lisa Edelstein, Tony winner Robert Sean Leonard) and new faces (Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer). Aside from the complicated cases they tackle each week, the sparks really fly when House's brilliant, if naïve charges are put to the test--and as the head of a teaching hospital, it's his job to test them (although his tough love approach is constantly landing him in hot water with Edelstein's administrator). From the first episode, House attracted a talented array of guests, including Robin Tunney ("Pilot"), Joe Morton ("Role Model"), and Patrick Bauchau ("Cursed") as Spencer's father. In addition, Chi McBride and Sela Ward appear frequently (with Ward returning for the second season). Viewers who first watched these 22 episodes on Fox will be gratified to note that the music has survived the transition to disc, such as the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," as featured in both the pilot and season finale ("Honeymoon"). The only apparent omission is the credit theme (Massive Attack's "Teardrop") from the pilot. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Season Two
The overall strength of the second season of House, M.D. proves that its first-year success wasn't a fluke. This season starts with Dr. House (Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie) pursuing his ex-wife Stacy (Sela Ward) and ending with a tragedy that could potentially be deadly for himself and two colleagues. The premise of each show follows a set routine--a patient is brought in with unusual symptoms; House challenges his trio of underlings to diagnose the problem; they treat the patient, usually incorrectly the first few tries; and then at the very last minute--through a revelation that often has little to do with the patient--House figures out what's wrong and saves the day. It would be easy for this set up to grow old fast. But because of the smart writing, nuanced acting, and believability of the characters (who're often dealing with unbelievable scenarios), the formula works on each of the 24 episodes that aired on Fox during the 2005-2006 season. Viewers have been conditioned by the Marcus Welbys of the TV world to think of doctors as saviors. Even on ER, the most narcissistic physician was selfless at heart. But House is a different breed. When he's at an off-track betting parlor and a woman collapses, he doesn't miss a beat. Still eying his race on television, he asks, "Is anybody here a doctor?" He'll mock a sick patient's complaints with a sarcastic, "Boo hoo!" And, if there happens to be a dead body around, he has no qualms about shooting it if he believes that could help diagnose another gun-shot victim.

Not that he's any more reasonable or compassionate to his boss Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), his oncologist best friend Wilson (Tony winner Robert Sean Leonard), or his young charges Foreman (Omar Epps), Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), and Chase (Jesse Spencer). He instructs his doctors to break into patients' homes as if they're cat burglars. He does not know the meaning of the phrase "politically correct." But because he spits out insults (as if he has a mild case of Tourette's) equally to both his patients and colleagues, the latter never flinch at his constant stream of inappropriateness. When his three young doctors storm into his office to report the declining condition of a patient by blurting out, "We have rectal bleeding," House says, "What? All three of you?" To sensitive Wilson, who is trying to get some work done without being interrupted, House says, "I know you're in there. I can hear you caring." And when Foreman's father says, "My son says you're a manipulative bastard," House replies, "It's a pet name. I call him Dr. Bling." Of course House actually does care about his patients, but he views a good bedside manner as the luxury of a doctor who has a healthy patient. But dying patients with seemingly incurable diseases need something more. They need House. --Jae-Ha Kim

Season Three
The cantankerous and brilliant Dr. House (Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie) is back for a third season of the hit drama House, which picks up with his being shot at the end of season two and ends with his staff dramatically refusing to put up with his oddball (and borderline abusive) demands. Each of the 24 episodes, which aired on FOX from 2006 to 2007, is included in this 5-disc set. Fans of the drama will be happy to hear that the formula remains the same: Each show begins with a medical dilemma that's so severe and life-threatening that only Dr. House can diagnose and fix the problem, even if it goes against conventional medical rules. His put-upon boss Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) is back, as are his young charges Foreman (Omar Epps), Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), and Chase (Jesse Spencer). Oncologist Wilson (Tony winner Robert Sean Leonard), who is House's best friend by default, also returns to support (and infuriate) the cranky doctor. Speaking of cranky, House's difficult nature proves to bite him in the rear. In a six-episode arc, the Vicodin-popping House meets his match after he antagonizes the wrong patient, police officer Michael Twitter (David Morse, who played a compassionate physician on St. Elsewhere). Hell hath no fury like a patient poked and prodded like a guinea pig, and Twitter makes it his business to make House's life miserable. But since the show is called House, viewers are safe in assuming that House will not be rotting his life away in a jail cell. After all, the excitement of the show is driven by his unorthodox treatment of patients. As Cuddy succinctly points out, "You just keep on going until you come up with something so insane it's usually right." Look for a slew of excellent guest stars (rocker Dave Matthews, Charles S. Dutton, Piper Perabo, John Larroquette) to help stir things up. The episodes are as compelling as ever, focusing on a morbidly obese patient in denial, an autistic child, and a comatose man that House insists on "waking" up. The bonus materials include Morrison and Edelstein doing scenes in Valley Girl-speak and a featurette on Laurie's all-star charity group called Band from TV (Laurie plays piano). --Jae-Ha Kim

Season Four
Prepare for even more baffling, complex and shocking medical mysteries than ever before as every episode of House MD Season Four arrives on DVD! Reunite with the perplexing and prickly Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie in his two-time Golden Globe®-winning and Primetime Emmy®-nominated role) as he tackles impossible cases while putting a new staff of potential team candidates through the medical wringer with his trademark sarcasm and irreverent bedside manner. Also making house calls this season are such stellar guest stars as Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite), Frank Whaley (Swimming with Sharks), Michael Michele (ER) and more! It's time to get another dose of one of TV's most original medical dramas in the show that's "…exceptionally well-written, well-shot and well-played" (Los Angeles Times).
