Sealab is a great parody of Hannah Barbara's Sealab 2020 using new voices and animations to turn a mundane show into somewhat of a underground classic. This show takes the crew of a underwater research station and puts them through ridiculous scenarios and is one of the funniest shows of this generation. If you aren't a fan of random comedy and animated humor then this show isn't for you and I wouldn't advise you to try it without at least a sample, but if you do like animated humor then purchase these DVD's now.

Season 2 is when the series reached its comedic peak, in my opinion. There are some really great episodes in this collection, such as "Der Dieb", in which Murphy declares "Martian law" in response to the presence of a thief on Sealab; "The Feast of Alvis", where the crew struggles with religious diversity while Murphy prepares for Alvistime, a bastardized version of Christmas that worships a gun-toting outlaw named Alvis; and "Hail, Squishface", where Murphy inadvertantly causes Sealab to be overrun by cute-but-deadly creatures called gloops. This collection is, if anything, a reminder of how much Harry Goz is missed as the voice of Captain Murphy; he was the glue that held the show together, and it just completely fell apart after his death.
The extras are of course terrible, as is typical with bizarre Adult Swim shows in DVD format, because the creators are so weird that they just can't bring themselves to do normal special features and must make everything strange and half-assed. The tribute to Harry Goz is alright, but it consists mainly of brown-nosing from the creators of Sealab, his son Michael Goz, and Bill Lobley (the voice of Sparks). Lobley, in particular, is rather nauseating to listen to because he is such an insufferable suck-up.
However, the bad extras are the only reason that this item lost a star. The episodes are solid gold, and I would recommend this collection to any die-hard fan of this bizarre oceanic series.

Yes, I know Harry Goz died a bit into this season, but that's no excuse for some of the low quality jokes in the later episodes. Especially the first one with Shanks. Seasons one and two of the DVD's had some high quality commentary, while the only decent commentary on this set is the first episode with Shanks whereas they let a third party completely rip the episode, and the third season of the series, apart, literally saying "If you bought this I feel bad for you" I swear, its in the commentary and its very true. Season 3 just was not at all entertaining after Murphy died. The best episode of the set is one in the special features that never aired... Overall, I am strongly disappointed. I only gave it a 2 rather than 1 because Harry Goz diserves better.

This DVD set isn't worth buying. The only episodes worth watching are the ones with Captain Murphy still on them. Replacing the genius of Captain Murphy is the horrible Tornado Shanks and the rest of the season follows this trend until you'll find yourself saying this is virtually un-watchable. Horrible death for a great series.

Unlike some hardcore fans, I didn't mind Captain Shanks when he took over for the irreplaceable Captain Murphy. But Season 4 changed all that. Whereas Seasons 1 & 2 (and parts of 3) were very amusing, Season 4 isn't funny at all. None of the character developments or jokes are funny in the least. All jokes fall flat, and what little potential some developments had are squandered after they're repeated the umpteenth time (Grizzlebees, anyone?). Whereas the first 2 seasons actually were intelligently quirky, Season 4 needs a lobotomy to enjoy. Avoid it like the plague.

Well... its kinda slow... I wouldn't recommend purchasing this unless you've already seen a few episodes... but if you're a fan, of course the DVD would be the next best thing!

What happens when a bunch of gophers in the cartoon network studio take the worst known cartoon ever created and re-do the voices to make it weird and funny? Why you get one of the greatest cult classics of television of the 21st Century, Sealab 2021.
Sealab 2021, is the epic adventures of Sealab's fearless leader Captain Murphy and his wild and crazy crew. These brave men and women encouter everything from dangerous sea creatures, cute multiplying gloop babies, menacing grief counselars and yes the worst of all...tourists! Every episode will make you ball up on the floor with laughter if you are into nothing but spontanious occurances and extremly stupid one liners. Unfortunatly the show was cut short after the fourth season ended mostly due to the sudden death of Harry Goz the voice of Murphy. Eventhough the crew tried valliantly to keep the show going with Goz's son Michael doing the voice of the nutty Tornato Shanks, and of course more Hesh and Dolphin Boy time.
Still the show remains a favorite in the liniage of the now ever popular adult animation block. Each season is bizzare yet exciting ride that will leave you quoting things like Squishface and Alvis. This treasure is not to be over looked, enjoy the nutty sensation!
