What different from this box set and i one i already own. There is no mention of any extras. So I guessing it just the cover art?Love Roswell, love Kate Heigl but i won't be buying new sets just for some new cover art with her more to the front and telling me she's an emmy winner!

5/5 for the set, 1/5 for the useless repackaging 3 out of 5 stars.

Of all 3 seasons of Roswell, the second is my favorite. The first was more of Dawson's Creek with a sci-fi twist and the third just got too weird, but season 2 was near perfection. The story arcs are wonderful, and the addition of Emilie de Ravin to the main cast might have been the best thing to happen to Roswell. Plus, the widescreen presentation gives a great theatrical feel to the show. The only thing that bugs me is that I don't get why Fox had to re-release these sets, other than being another way to suck money out of loyal fans.

I Never Could Have Believed This Show Could Improve This Much 5 out of 5 stars.

*NOTE ON EDITION*
I like that this series is being re-released on DVD with a new look, but I think it's absolutely preposterous that Fox is trying to make it look like Katherine Heigl was the star of the show. It's disrespectful to the rest of the cast, to the writers, and even to Katherine Heigl fans, because even the producers said that she was the *least* developed of all the main characters. This season of Roswell gets a 9/10, but this edition gets a 1/10.

I have never witnessed a television show improve so much. Season One of Roswell was average at best with many, many problems, but all of that changes in Season Two. The series became much more dependant on story arcs and developing the characters. These changes are mostly due to Ronald D. Moore joining the staff as co-executive producer and co-show runner, and what he brings to the table is brilliant.

The episodes we get here are leagues better than I expected. Each of these episodes (some of which are very experimental, particularly "Summer of 47") are better than any episode from the first season. Shiri Appleby and Jason Behr, who star as the central characters Max and Liz, get a lot less screen time here, and that's for the better. The supporting cast is phenomenal, delivering some of the best acting you'll see in serialized television. Shiri usually delivers--I apologize, Liz fans--an awkward performance and, while she is still credited first, is no longer the main character. Max, Michael, and Isabel have become the main characters, and Maria (rightfully so) has as many scenes as Liz does.

The story arcs were probably the best addition. From the threat of the Skins, the Sherrif Valenti being fired/Laurie Dupree story, and the mystery of the death of a main character, this season has a much more focused feel to it. There are certainly standalone episodes here as well, though. "Summer of 47" is the first "perfect" episode of the series, and the experimental nature of this episode is the thing that made me realize I was watching something special. "A Roswell Christmas Carol" is as good a Christmas special as any I've seen, and "Viva Las Vegas" was a chance to let the characters and audience get away from the darkness of the season without ignoring the weight of what has already happened. As far as other positives, I also loved the addition of Brody and the family dynamic between Sherrif Valenti, Tess, and Kyle.

I'd love to dub this a "classic" season, but though this season is astoundingly good, there are a few errors. The threat of Nicholas was dropped, the "dupes" of Michael and Isabel were badly written, and "The Departure" was pretty much a character assassination in the form of a Roswell episode. However, those problems--big as the latter is--won't take away from the overall enjoyment this season will give fans and newcomers alike. If I were to recommend this series, I would say to start at Season Two. It is an improvement from Season One in every way imaginable.

Opening with a Dido theme song and featuring character-driven, sweet-natured melodrama, Roswell was a show with a surprisingly dedicated fandom, who twice won it reprieve from cancellation. One of its main strengths was, of course, the extent to which its premise--alien teenagers trying to sort out their identities while emotionally involved with their human contemporaries--was a free-floating metaphor for race and sexuality issues. Another was the strong ensemble that its cast developed: you believed in the strangeness of the alien trio and the well-intentioned normality of their three human friends. Jason Behr gave the alien Max a quiet authority and Majendra Delfino took the sidekick role of Maria and gave it both intensity and fine comic timing. It was also a show in which you were never sure which adults you could trust--William Sadleir trod a fine line of ambiguity as the local sheriff and Julie Benz was silkily sinister as an FBI agent. Anyone who ever loved this show will want these DVDs--and many others may want to find out what the fuss was about.

Roswell is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen. The special features include commentaries by writer Jason Katims, the directors, and various cast members as well as featurettes. The commentaries are unusually insightful on the casting process, and the discs also include the auditions for the part of Tess as well as deleted scenes and a music video. --Roz Kaveney

This season of Roswell gets an 8/10, but this edition gets a 1/10.

"Roswell" has a lot to prove to me in its third season. I was utterly unimpressed with Season One, but still entertained enough to give the show another chance. And when I saw the second season, I was blown away by the increase in quality. However, I was let down by the finale of the second season, which felt like a contrived way to get rid of a character that fans didn't like (Tess). So going into this season, the third and final, I had high hopes that show-runners Jason Katims and Ronald D. Moore would bounce back with another great season.

And they did. Against all odds, even. Creative decisions were made that I couldn't have imagined would work for the better, but in the end, they did. While the core of the first season was the romance between Max and Liz (played by Jason Behr and Shiri Appleby, the two weakest members of the cast) and the second season focused on the sci-fi aspect, the third creates a sort of balance between those two aspects. By this time, both Liz and Max have developed as characters and Behr and Appleby have drastically matured as actors. Both of these factors come together, finally making the Liz/Max pairing a believable relationship.

Another decision that I couldn't have imagined working was the introduction of Jesse Ramirez (played by Adam Rodriguez) as a member of the main cast. At first, I was weary, and then when Isabel and Jesse got married six episodes into the season, I was still iffy about it but also blown away by the ballsiness of that decision. In the end, it certainly was worth it, thanks in part to Adam Rodriguez's brilliant performance. However, some of the decisions didn't work as well. For the first half of the season, Max had a drastic wardrobe change, which reeked of the crew trying desperately to make us believe that Max was troubled and tormented. Instead of actually selling that aspect of his character in a story, they threw a leather jacket on him, tousled his hair, and put a bit of eye-liner on him to make his eyes look sunken. Also, there was an episode where Michael "goes bad" which felt very contrived to me. To work up to such a dramatic shift in a character (even if it's just for one episode), it has to be earned, and I felt that it wasn't earned in this case.

All in all, this season was really about maturity. All of the actors improved drastically in this season, and though those who have stood out still stand out the most (William Saddler as Jim Valenti, Nick Wechsler as Kyle Valenti, Majandra Delfino as Maria DeLuca, and Brendan Fehr as Michael Guerin), Shiri Appleby and Jason Behr really start to show their acting chops in this season as well. The characters take on new directions, some good and some not-so-much, but the heart of the show is always there. And--get ready for this review to end on a cheesy, but true, note--the heart has always been what makes "Roswell" a good show. A show that I certainly won't forget.

Don't be "duped" 1 out of 5 stars.

This is just another way for Fox to suck money from consumers. There is nothing new with these sets, but the package art. Katharine Heigl was not the star of Roswell as this new cover art makes it seem. I feel offense on behalf of the other actors on the show. This is just a way to sucker "Grey's Anatomy" fans into buying this.

If Fox wanted to spend money on something, they should have shelled out the money to restore the original music to the show.

It took me a long, long time to watch the entire first season of Roswell. Nearly two months. Seasons of Buffy, Angel, Veronica Mars, etc. take about a week or two. So needless to say, Roswell started slow. It was a solid story with interesting episodes and (a few) great characters, but it was never enthralling until the end. The final disc of the first season set will engross you, but it's the first three that will leave you trudging along slowly, waiting for something exciting to happen.

Positives
+ William Saddler is outstanding as Sheriff Valenti
+ Maria, Alex, Isabel, Kyle, and--to an extent--Michael are played by competent actors who truly fit the character they play. They add a certain depth and significance to the character that may or may not have been given by the writers
+ Julie Benz, Buffy/Angel vet, guest stars as Mrs. Topolsky
+ Some of the story arcs, specifically Tess and Nasedo's, are well developed and make for a highly entertaining watch
+ The subtle friends-or-more? relationship between Alex and Isabel is the most downplayed, yet the most interesting. Sometimes leaving things to the imagination is best
+ The season finale is phenomenal
+ Sheriff Valenti is played up to be the Main Villain of the series early on, but the revelation of the true "Big Bad" in the last few episodes is very interesting
+ Visuals are a big plus

Negatives
+ While Jason Behr was an acceptable guest star in other television shows, he doesn't seem to be up to playing a main character. The same goes for Shiri Appleby, who stars as Liz. Their romance seems forced (with the exception of the strangely on-point finale) and each of their characters seem awkwardly played.
+ The plot drags from the beginning to middle of the season.
+ Sometimes the motivation of certain characters aren't clear
+ Often, the interaction between characters is awkward and clunky
+ Slow

Though not all of the cast is perfect and the arcs aren't carried out as good as they could have been, the debut season of Roswell is an enjoyable watch. By the end of the twenty-second episodes, all of the characters have a little place in your heart.

Overall, the risks taken by the "Roswell" team in the final season paid off. It's not as good as the second season, but it's still way better than the first. Here is a list of episodes that I thought stood out the most.

5. Michael, the Guys, and the Great Snapple-Caper: Very funny Michael-centric episode.
4. Four Aliens and a Baby: Tess comes back, the fit hits the shan, and the character assassination of Tess in the second season is partly made up for.
3. A Tale of Two Parties: Explores character very nicely, centering on the relationships between aliens and humans who we don't normally see interact that much in regular episodes
2. Graduation: A fitting finale. The season was cut by a few episodes, so it's amazing to see what the writers did in such a short period of time. Tearjerker.
1. Panacea: Roswell at its dangerous best. Emotions are high as the characters we've come to care dearly about are thrown into mortal danger.

This is season is why I'm still hooked! 5 out of 5 stars.

Roswell was so much more than a show on TV. It was a fantasy, an adventure and to some a way of life. Alienism (is that a word?) was a metaphor for all the isolation we all feel. This season was truly a love story and to me it began when Liz and Max looked into each other's eyes at the end of the 'Pilot' I knew this was it. Try and watch any episode in the first season and trust me you will be enamored by the love story of Max and Liz, the lustful rantings of Michael and Maria, and the befuddled affection of Alex and Isabel. From the `Pilot' to `Destiny' you will understand a world that millions fell in love with, a world that seemed more than us and more than Roswell itself; the fantasy, intrigue, and exploration of an otherwise improbable plot that coincide to create the perfect intergalactic romance.

Most Engaging TV I've Ever Watched 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought Roswell after seeing a couple scenes of Liz and Max on a YouTube Montage of Romantic TV Shows. I then went straight to Amazon and read all the reviews I could find on the series. Not ONE negative one to be seen! So I ordered Season One right then and there.

One Month Later I now have all 3 Season's in my possession and I have watched NOTHING but Roswell since the day the First Season arrived!!
Right from the Pilot I was completely hooked. The characters are fantastic and it's wonderful how they evolve through the 3 Seasons. The relationships between the characters are SO genuine and believable and I was drawn into the emotional turmoil immediately. I know the show is Science Fiction, but its not all consumming doesn't descend into the pit of unintellegible mumbo jumbo or get to lost in it.
I LOVE Max and Liz's intense love for each other. No matter what they do they just can't run away from it. Perfectly matched couple.
Michael and Maria have a totally different relationship, but nontheless intense.
As for Isobel, I wasn't sure I even liked her at first, but her character really grows on you and you begin to understand why she is as she is.
As for Jim & Kyle Valenti, this in one father and son duo that by the end of the show I was in love with. Excellent characters and I just wanted to hug poor Kyle sometimes.
This series has it all; Drama, Romance, Mystery, Suspense, and a very generous dose of Comedy!

My conclusion? BUY THIS SERIES!! I have started lending it out to all my friends and they have all been just as estatic as me over it. Absolataly worth EVERY penny!

Roswell - The Complete First Season
Opening with a Dido theme song and featuring character-driven, sweet-natured melodrama, Roswel was a show with a surprisingly dedicated fandom, who twice won it reprieve from cancellation.

Roswell - The Complete Second Season
Season 2 of the cult science-fiction series Roswell opens on a promisingly positive note, with the rescue of alien teen Michael (Brendan Fehr) by Max (Jason Behr) and his pals, but as soon as things settled down, new challenges threaten their existence. That was par for the course on this imaginative program, which hit its stride in its sophomore year (2000-2001) with a tighter blend of thoughtful youth drama and otherworldly action. The season's chief threats to aliens Max, Michael, Isabel (Katherine Heigl of Grey's Anatomy), and newcomer Tess (Emilie De Ravin of Lost), and Earthlings Liz (Shiri Appleby), Maria (Majandra Delfino), and Alex (Colin Hanks) are Vanessa Whitaker (Gretchen Egolf), a congresswoman with a very sinister secret agenda, and Brody Davis (Desmond Askew), the new curator of Roswell's UFO Museum, who harbors an equally unpleasant plan for the friends. The struggle between human and alien forces, both good and evil, to uncover the truth about Max and his companions leads to a pair of shocking events--a death among the group, and in the season finale, Max, Michael, and Isabel's possible return to their home planet. Other highlights from season 2 include the imaginative period piece "Summer of '47," with the series regulars assuming the roles of townspeople and government officials at the time of the original alleged UFO crash; the two-parter "Meet the Dupes" and "Max in the City," which poses the alien quartet against their physically identical doubles (with extremely different personalities); and "A Roswell Christmas Carol," which offers an unsentimental retake on the Dickens story.

Roswell - The Complete Third Season
The sci-fi-themed teen drama Roswell begins its third and final season with Max (Jason Behr) and Liz (Shiri Appleby) back together and taking a desperate chance to find Max's son. After the many cosmic concepts of the previous season, the series dialed back the mythology to focus on the more--excuse the expression--human aspects of the characters. Roswell was often described as Dawson's Creek meets The X-Files, and accordingly Isabel (Katherine Heigel) finds romance with a lawyer (Adam Rodriguez), but struggles both with her mixed feelings about revealing her alien identity and with the aftermath of the tragedy in season 2. (The romance is later spoofed in a Bewitched-style episode.) At the same time, Max and Michael (Brendan Fehr) travel to Los Angeles in search of an alien bounty hunter that might be able to help them find Max's son. (They also find Roswell executive producer Jonathan Frakes making a guest appearance as himself.) Michael takes a night job that at first is played for laughs (in "Michael, the Gang, and the Great Snapple Caper"), then takes on threatening implications in a rousing two-parter that eventually leaves all parties not too much different from how they started. Michael also struggles in his relationship with Maria (Majandra Delfino), first when he makes new friends and later when she meets a figure from her past (Clayne Crawford) who revives a longtime music dream that might lead to bigger things. All the while, the alien trio faces the constant struggle of keeping their identities secret, even as the net seems to be tightening around them. When a key character returns in the series' penultimate episode, both the aliens and the humans they love face a critical decision.
