An amazing anime that often gets short-changed. Almost no-one has herd of it, but I loved every minute of it. The first season is one of great (although the second season is my favorite!) This show has a nice balance between comedy and action, which many shows have trouble nailing. This collection is missing one episode of the first season, but that is available if you truly need to have every one. Its a great gift for any kid if you give it a chance, and while it dose not contain the Japanese audio- it is not a big deal as this is one of the most accurately translated dubs I have ever seen. The show did not do well when aired because it was put out at the same time a pokemon, but when I saw the show- It had a lot more depth of character then the often shallow episodes of pokemon and while I gave up on pokemon a while a go- this still has a nostalgia factor even enticing to an adult. If you give it a chance- it may not be your favorite show as it was mine, but it is definitely worth the price for the classic episodes of this hard to find anime. You will be hard pressed to find a more interesting character then Metabee in a children's cartoon.

medabots is the coolest TV show. I don't own this video but I saw it on TV. I would recomend this to anyone who is/was into anime like pokemon or digimon. I'm going to buy this ASAP. You should too.

Medabots:Robattle is one of my favorite Medabot videos(it's the only one I have:)! ) In this volume,Ikki must overcome obstacles that seem impossible( teaching Spyke to win battles,Gimme ghost, beating Koji), while also defeating the Rubberobos and going to the World Championships. If you ask me, it would be better if it had language options with subtitles, inside jokes, and clips.

Editorial Review:

Ten-year old Ikki finally has his very own Medabot. But what a Medabot! Metabee talks back, won't do what Ikki tells him to, and worse yet, takes out the trash when Ikki's mom asks! Instead of fulfilling his dream of becoming a world-renown Robattler, Ikki is laughing stock of every Medafighter in town. With the city Robattle Tournament looming, Ikki and Metabee must learn to work together or face elimination. But the Robattle Tournament is the least of their problems. The Rubberobo Gang is new in town, and it's going to be up to Ikki and his friends to make sure that their evil plans are thwarted. Don't miss the continuing excitement in Medabots!

Age doesn't matter 5 out of 5 stars.

Hello. I am a 23-year-old and I really don't care when people always say stuff like: "You're to old to be watching kiddie shows." Because most anime shows are not "kiddie shows" Sure at first glance it might seem a little childish. But deeper down the episodes are funny, with lots of hilarious comments, they have a plot (which immediately seperates this and other anime shows from the "kiddie" selection). As you watch more than you will see that the plot gets deeper. There are mysteries within mysteries in Medabots. As a side note I do not count Pokemon as an anime show because it has no plot, no humor, and the characters are all stupid. I highly recommend this sow to viewers of ANY age. And adults: next time you are surfing channels and you see an anime show (other than Pokemon) try watching it! You could gain something out of it. This message has been brought to you by Tagg. A 23-year-old anime lover.

Editorial Review:

Based on an old computer game, Medabots is a blatant attempt to create an animation/merchandise franchise on the Pokémon/Digimon model. In 2022 kids aspire to become "medafighters," the owners of special robots they battle in contests. The hero of the series is Ikki, who finds a rare, stolen Beetle medallion and uses it to power a ramshackle, second-hand robot, creating Metabee. But Metabee exhibits an obnoxious personality of his own: he refuses to obey Ikki and insults him. Student journalist and put-down artist Arika and mean Samantha and her gang, the Screws, complete the cast. The popular series on the Fox Kids' Network wants to be the next Pokémon, but parents need to know this series is more street-smart and caffeinated. Young viewers should tap into the smart-mouth humor that includes lines like "kiss their 'bots good-bye." Unrated: Suitable for ages 7 and up. --Charles Solomon

The World Robattle Tournament is fast approaching and only the top three medafighters from each country advance to the Tournament. Guess who's on the list when the rankings are announced for Japan? The mysterious Space Medafighter X is ranked First; Koji and Sumilidon are ranked Second and to their surprise, Ikki and Metabee are ranked Third! If they can hold on to that ranking for a few days, they'll be representing Japan in the Tournament, but it's not going to be east with every Medafighter in Japan gunning for them. And the Rubberobo Gang isn't about to give up their plans for World Domination just because Ikki's got other things on his mind.

The problems with the RuberRobo Gang come to a head here 3 out of 5 stars.

Animation and story is okay for this series. I am however a pretty big fan of this line.
This is probably one of the more exciting discs in the series and appears to go just before the RoBattle Championchips in Vol. 10. What you will get out of this storywise is more about Space Medafighter X & Arcbeetle (provided it isn't obvious already) and why the RubberRobos want rare medals in the first place. As usual Metabee's attitude makes this series worth watching. As for episode order it appears to be somewhat out of whack. Vols. 1-6 cover what was shown on Fox Kids way back when. Vols. 7-9 cover 'filler' episodes that actually add to character development in the series. This is apparent when you watch for parts won from previous battles in these accompanying episodes.
Other bits of mild character development is that you will notice that Metabee has the respect of the other Medabot's he's gone up against. The last episode on the disc is fairly high on action and comes with the obligatory HUGE robot to fight. With only Metabee, Rokusho, and Arcbeetle standing against him.

Editorial Review:

Ikki still needs a few more points to secure his place in the World Robattle Tournament, and he only has three hours left to gain them. But the Rubberobo Gang has kidnapped his mother in an effort to lure Ikki into a trap where they can steal Metabee's medal! Ikki and Metabee set aside their dreams of being in the Tournament and rush to the rescue. However, when they reach the hideout, they discover there's an even more sinister plan behind the kidnapping. It's an all out robattle to the finish as the Rubberobo's throw every medabot they have at Metabee. Dr. Aki, the Screws and even Space Medafighter X join Ikki and his friends as they attempt to thwart the evil plans of the Rubberobo Gang and the surprising Dr. Meta-Evil.
