This is a great time on DVD. We had not seen Little Bill before, but my son really enjoyed it.

Great Alternative to a repetitive DVD. 5 out of 5 stars.

The "Nick Jr" DVD's are a great alternative to watching a DVD with the same characters over and over again. The kids enjoy the change, and I enjoy not hearing the same theme song over and over and over again :-)

Great variety for toddler and Pre-k 5 out of 5 stars.

We like these types of videos because they offer the variety we like on Noggin and Nick 1/2 without the "commercials". My daughter is 4.5 and appreciates the variety (as opposed to the typical DVD which has multiple episodes of a single series).

DVD Great! 5 out of 5 stars.

This DVD is full of great shows. Great variety. My 2 1/2 yr old can't decide which one to watch - she loves them all. I picked out this one because it had Wonder Pets on it which she is just beginning to enjoy, but she loves Backyardigans, Dora, Max & Ruby & Blue's Clue's too!!! You can't go wrong with this DVD!

Episodes 5 out of 5 stars.

Not My Favorite 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I am a home daycare and have bought this DVD because of Summer, Winter and Spring breaks when Nick Jr. stop playing as early as 9:00 am. If I had known what shows where on this DVD I would bought another. Also my daycare kids don't want to watch it. THey LOVE Nick Jr. Favorites - Vol. 5 but don't care for this one.

Here's the run down.

Dora the Explorer
"Backpack" On dora and Backpack's first adventure together, they need your help ato return Dora's eight books to the library before it closes.

(It is cute but I already own this one.)

Wonder Pets
"Save the Cow, Save the Skunk"
The team needs to save the Baby Cow stuck in a tree in Oklahoma, and then they bring along Ollie the Bunny to rescue a scared Baby Skunk.

(The Save the Skunk one has Ollie the Bunny who has an attitude problem. I have never care for it.)

The Backyardigans:
"Monster Detectives"
Sixties, style rock underscores Tyrone's adventure as a non-nonsense detective helping his client Uniqua retrieve her soccer ball from the castle of the Soccer Monster.

(This is one of my least favorite The Backyardigans. It's just really dumb.)

Jack's Big Music Show:
"Marching Band"
Jack, My and Mel aren't going to let the rain outside stop their marching band, so they march inside! With music videos from Laurie Berner and Milkshake

(This ok.)

Blue's Clues"
"What Did Blue See?"
See if you and Steve can find the clues to figure out what Blue saw in this sense-sational game of Blue's Clues!

(I love Blues Clues and this one super cute)

Little Bill
"Ready, Set, Read-I Got a Letter"
Little Bill asks his teacher to help him read like his brother Bobby. Then he masters the mystery of the mail with his dad.

( I love Little Bill)

Loving These Favorites Releases 4 out of 5 stars.
22 of 22 people found this review helpful.

"Nick Jr. Favorites 4" is the fourth in this continuing series and features six Nick Jr. programs. It's another great selection overall, dampened only by the usual lack of special features.

Seen on this DVD:

"The Backyardigans"
Pirate Treasure

A great selection from this wonderful, colorful, musical Nelvana serie that will soon be featuring more new episodes on Nick Jr. In this absolutely classic episode, the Backyardigans pretend to be pirates, and as everyone knows, pirates say "arr." Like most of the episodes of the show --- this one features four of the characters, and this is one where they're split up into two groups. Captains Uniqua and Austin hunt for treasure, followed closely by Captains Pablo and Tyrone. Both pirate teams have half a map --- but with only half each, how will either find the treasure?

"Blue's Clues"
100th Episode Celebration

A great choice. This celebration episode consists in large part of clips from past episodes, but it's well put together. It also features a special visit from Steve. He's wearing a top-hat in this episode --- nobody knew it at the time, but as recently announced in the behind-the-scenes special, one of the main reasons for him leaving the show was that he was losing his hair. This special was a perfect way to have him back on for a bit, and the hat, of course, appeared perfectly normal!

"LazyTown"
Prince Stingy

This was one of the few episodes of the program I hadn't seen, so I was pleased that it was on this DVD. When Stingy fantasizes about being a prince, Robbie Rotten concocts a scheme to make his dream come true. But Robbie's rotten plan comes with some strings attached --- such as making up rules to get rid of that "blue elf" --- *FOREVER!!!*

"Little Bill"
Racing Time / All Tied Up

If there's any one reason to get this DVD, this is it. "Little Bill" no longer airs on Nick Jr. and with CBS no longer airing Nick Jr. programming starting September 2006, "Little Bill" may very well be off the airwaves. So it's wonderful to see this on the DVD. In the first story, Little Bill learns how to get to school on time. And in the second, he gets help tying his shoes.

Also included on this DVD are "Dora the Explorer" and "Max and Ruby." I don't think much of either show, but I know they're pretty popular. The "Dora" episode is "¡Rapido, Tico!" and "Max & Ruby" features three stories --- "Max Cleans Up / Max's Cuckoo Clock / Ruby's Jewelry Box."

My kids are very happy with Nick Jr. favorites. They watched it so many times already after we got it. We love it!

A crowd pleaser 5 out of 5 stars.

The first one "dora" had my classroom of [...] engaging, laughing, repeating, answering Dora's questions simultaneously. It was great. I didn't feel like I had just hired an electronic babysitter. I felt like I had just introduced spanish, a very creative story and it was only 20 minutes. My own children are allowed to watch this DVD too because it is interactive and encourages participation throughout the DVD>

Well, Some Favorites, Yes... 4 out of 5 stars.

This is the second Nick Jr. Favorites release, featuring according to the cover, "six super adventures"

The stuff on here is mostly good. Lazytown features "Sleepless in LazyTown," a great story in which Robbie Rotten tries to deprive Sportacus of sleep. A fun, high-energy show that really accomplishes its goal.

Blue's Clues has "Pajama Party" in which a special pajama party is held at the Blue's Clue's house. A classic Steve episode.

Little Bill, a show don't get to watch nearly as often as I'd like has "Little Bill's Great Space Adventure." Little Bill is tired of always being told he's too small, so he makes up a story in which his being small saves the day. Featuring the cute little green alien Max and Little Bill's hero Captain Brainstorm.

The Backyardigans episode is "The Quest for the Flying Rock." Uniqua, Tasha, Pablo and Tyrone all compete to reach a mystical flying rock. Great music and songs and concept as well.

The other two shows on here are Dora the Explorer ("Super Map") and Max and Ruby ("Ruby's Lemonade Stand / Ruby's Rummage Sale / Ruby's Magic Act.") I don't really think much of either show, but I know they're kinda popular, particularly Dora.

There are no special features on this DVD, unfortunately. However, everything is close-captioned and the sound and picture quality are great.

Some Good Shows, Some Bad Shows, Not Really Any Special Features 3 out of 5 stars.
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

This is the first volume of Nick Jr. Favorites. To me, some of them are Favorites, although some of them I don't like. You'll have your own opinions, so I'll just let you know what's on the DVD and give some brief thoughts. It's also worth mentioning that there are no special features, although there are previews for a few things --- "Blue's Room" DVD releases, "Candyland" and I believe a "My Little Pony" release.

Dora the Explorer - "The Lost City" --- Dora and her friends search for Dora's lost teddy bear. Newer episode featuring "star-catching." I don't really think much of this show, due to the extreme level of repetition, mainly. I know it is pretty popular, though.

Blue's Clues - "The Legend of the Blue Puppy" - This is good one. In this episode from the sixth season featuring Joe, viewers learn about Blue's origins. They find out that Blue has a key to a special playroom where she can talk. Thus, viewers are introduced to Blue's Room.

LazyTown - "Sports Day" - This is excellent. "LazyTown" is fairly new to Nick Jr. and is a great, active show. In this episode, Robbie Rotten is up to his usual tricks --- trying to get the kids to be lazy and also trying to ban Sportacus from LazyTown forever. He challenges them all to a race and then plays a mean trick to sap Sportacus of his energy.

Little Bill - "Little Bill's Adventure with Captain Brainstorm" - This is a great show, but I don't get to watch it nearly as much as I'd like. In this one, Little Bill and his friends go to meet their TV hero Captain Brainstorm "live and in person." Little Bill gets scared and bails out of the meeting. He then shares with his friends a story he wrote about him going on an adventure with Captain Brainstorm. The story has a great lesson about making friends and helps to give Little Bill confidence.

Max and Ruby - "Max's Work of Art / Max Meets Morris / Ruby's Scavenger Hunt" - Three stories from the show. I like a lot of Rosemary Well's work and the TV shows based on it, but this one just doesn't cut it for me. Max is a little scamp and both of them could really benefit from some adult help.

Oswald - "A Day at the Beach / Sand Sculpture Contest" - Oswald is a sweet, calming show. In these two stories, Oswald tries to get his good friend Henry to swim with him at the beach. Then he becomes the judge of a sand sculpture contest, but has trouble deciding on a winner.

Overall, a pretty decent set of shows, but could benefit with some special features and better presentation. I really believe that DVDs these days must have good special features or at least try at them in order to be rated higher.
