As Told By Ginger is one Nickelodeon's lesser known Nicktoons. Yet it combines some of the finest animation from the Klasky-Csupo studios (Rugrats, All Grown Up) with often clever writing from the independent series creator Emily Kapnek. ATBG gives a fresh take on the classic 'girl-in-junior-high' theme.
With this package you get two of the series tv-movies (aka Nickflicks) and a few episodes from the first season. Of the two, 'The Wedding Frame' is definitely the better one. Not only do you get the series finale (with a vintage Ginger surprise ending) but also two strong episodes with 'Stealing First' and the character-defining 'Dare I, Darren'.
'Far From Home' has a strong start but the script loses track halfway through the movie. But you also get the series first-ever episode 'Ginger The Juvey', which gives a great introduction to the main cast.
In short: a must-have for all fans and anyone who thinks a US animated series has to be either cartoonish junk or overly sappy melodrama.

This episode of Ginger was aired on Nick many times. Ginger finds out that she was accepted to a boarding school in the mountains. Everyone around her is very sad. Especially Dodie. Ginger meets new people at this boarding school, & even gets a new look. While Ginger is away Daron finds out he has feelings for her. He journy's up to Ginger;s boarding school. In the end Ginger find's daron, they kiss, & a new relationship is formed.

A story about a dreamy, misunderstood girl who wants to be a writer when she grows up. My 8 year old daughter loved it, and so did I.

In FAR FROM HOME, Ginger gets a scholarship to the Advanced Arts Academy, but Dodie isn't exactly peachie with it. As Ginger tries to explain to Dodie that she'll be back soon, Dodie thinks she's abandoning everything she has here. Courtney, Macie and Dodie then find out a terrible secret that could ruin Ginger if they don't tell her quick enough. Meanwhile, Darren wants to tell Ginger so badly he may have fallen in love with her, and doesn't want to say goodbye.

Meanwhile, a sinister plot of wedding sabotage is underway by a trio of brazen broads. Ginger's brother, Carl, and his hilarious friend, Hoodsey, go undercover to foil the saboteurs' scheme, while slinging playful one-liners in perfectly timed comic relief. Amid the cartoon's lightness is a sophisticated script that will appeal not only to preteens but to parents with snippets such as "hurl yourself headfirst into this crazy world."
