Our son loves vacuum cleaners and is therefore fascinated by the naughty noo-noo. This disc was perfect for him

Average noo-noo 4 out of 5 stars.

I expected more Noo-noo-centric episodes. But since my 2 year old does not seem to mind as long as Noo-noo just appears in the episode, I'd say that the DVD is not a waste of money.

Editorial Review:

Slurpy slurp! The Teletubbies' favorite friend is the Noo-noo! This friendly vacuum cleaner is very good at tidying up after Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po when they make a mess, but sometimes he just can't help being naughty! It's a messy day to play and giggle with the Teletubbies and the Noo-noo!

I've finally solved the riddle!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 7 people found this review helpful.

When I first saw the show, I was simultaneously fascinated and horrified by these creatures. Who are they? Where do they come from? Where exactly does their world exist? How come there are no other sentient beings around, and where do they get their manufactured goods from? Obviously they have no means of production. And who mows the grass and tends the flowers???

Then it hit me. What I'm about to explain to you is one of the best kept secrets in children's television.......

The teletubbies and their world are actually a virtual reality environment. In the far future, some segments of society, for a variety of reasons, will choose to upload their consciousness into a variety of VR environments, all housed in a massively powerful supercomputer. What we are viewing in the teletubbies is just one of those environments being broadcast backwards in time from the far future. Think about it, it explains EVERYTHING and makes perfect sense. Another good example of this is "Jay Jay the Jet Plane".

Editorial Review:

Watch the Teletubbies as they All Fall Down in Teletubbyland. It's time to eat Tubby Custard and Uh-oh! Po falls down. Where have the Teletubbies favorite things gone? Oooh! A little different from other Tubbies DVDs 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This DVD is a bit different from the other (previous) Tubbies DVDs. In the past, Tubbies DVDs typically had one intro and one ending with lots of clips from various episodes in between. In addition, the video clips of real children were played only once in those previous DVDs.

This 10th anniversary DVD features three complete episodes (each one with an intro and an ending) and the video clips of real children are played twice per episode. These are episodes that apparently never aired in North America. There's some good content, in addition to several extra features (including clips from Teletubbies Everywhere, which also appears on a few other Tubbies DVDs).

I prefer the other Tubbies DVDs, like Go! and Christmas in the Snow, because they have more exciting footage that gets children to be active while they watch. But this is still a decent DVD.

As long as my baby enjoys it then that's all that matters. Personally I don't care for it. 5 out of 5 stars.

A good one 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This is one of about 6 Teletubbies DVDs we own and is one of the best. The scenes with the Tubbies are more interesting than some of the ones in our other videos, and include a scene with Dipsy watching what's going on in Tubbyland, a scene with Tubby custard bubbles, and more. The scenes with the kids are also good, and there is a special feature that my 20 mo. old son also likes, where the Tubbies play on a seesaw. This DVD, along with "All Together Teletubbies" and "Look" are my son's favorites. He also likes "Favorite Things" but I think that's only available on VHS.

Lots of Fun! 4 out of 5 stars.

My 19 month old LOVES the Teletubbies. This video is tons of fun.

Not so great 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The first half of this video is the Teletubbies parading in front of a blue screen. At first my daughter was intrigued by the multiplying Teletubbies but soon lost interest.

Twenty minutes or so later came the live action parts and that was a little better for her. Still the only part that she liked was when the Tubbycustard machine started making bubbles.

I think that there are probably better DVDs out there to get instead of this one.

It's Springtime in Teletubbyland! Po finds bluebells and soon they are blossoming everywhere! Uh oh, the Tubby Custard machine makes Tubby Custard bubbles! Oooh!, Dipsy plays a watching game! It's a day to play and discover.

truly educational kids tv 5 out of 5 stars.

The Teletubbies were created years ago by the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) as an educational resource for infants through pre-schoolers. They are a fabulous series. I have read a lot of drivel from reviewers of this series (claiming that it is dross with no educational value because it entertains babies and pre schoolers) and I just want to have my say. Yes - parents can just leave their kids in front of the show - as many seem to do - but they are great shows to watch with your little ones and interact with. My seven year old was brought up on teletubbies - he loved them. He is now a avid book worm with advanced reading skills. He recently read the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series and has read 14 Warriors novels. I am not saying this is just down to the Teletubbies - I have taught my son to read at home - but Teletubbies was one of the places I started along with early picture books. I have just introduced my 8 month old to the delights of Teletubbies. She becomes really engaged, laughing and shouting at the television. She look at me with amazement! My eldest son is 23 years old and he is studing medicine in the UK. We are from the UK hence my knowledge of the program. I am also a fully qualified teacher in the UK. The BBC produces educational resources for the UK government run schools.

Editorial Review:

"Playful Patterns and Simple Shapes," the subtitle of this hour-long program, sums up its agenda, with some counting and toddler-specific social lessons thrown in. The first segment takes the Tubbies out of their green-hilled, bunny-laden environment and places them against a series of solid-color backdrops where they multiply, diminish, dance, and giggle. It's pretty simple, even by Teletubby standards, and will probably only appeal to very young fans. The second and third segments take the colorful foursome back to Teletubbyland where their tubby toast machine malfunctions, spewing out toast at an alarming rate, but resulting in a circular pattern. When a mirror appears on one of their hills, they study their facial features and then relax by examining the clouds, which appear first in conventional shapes but then morph into replicas of their favorite objects, like Tinky Winky's "bag" (a.k.a. purse). In the tummy-TV segments, real kids ride a carousel and learn to use a camera. (Ages 1 to 4). --Kimberly Heinrichs

Tons of Tubby fun! 5 out of 5 stars.
14 of 14 people found this review helpful.

The 19 month old Tubby fan in our household absolutely loves this video! Two segments of Teletubbies everywhere are followed by plenty of story and film segments. In particular, there is a film with children watching peacocks which always brings squeals of laughter. Well worth the money, this video provides any mom with 51 minutes of quiet time!

Teletubbies are NOT gender specific! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

And the show is for CHILDREN - specifically pre-schoolers who neither know nor CARE whether a person is a boy or girl! Adults impose that, kids that young don't care a bit. The show was developed by child development experts and appeals to their sense of color, music, repetition, silly noises and familiarity all while teaching essential lessons: being polite, loving your family (they are family to each other) cleaning up yourself and your messes, being nice to the creatures they share their world with, physical activity is good and flying kites on a windy day is great fun. While it isn't something I would watch it does entertain my 17 month old - I only allow DVD viewing for limited times so she doesn't have much to compare it to - though Elmo is also up there. It isn't that I ohject to TV per se - just that even PBS is becoming commercial (toy commericals on PBS Sprout!!) and I don't want to deal with that - so DVDs are the way to go.

My baby really likes the Tubbies and why shouldn't a teletubby carry a purse or wear a tutu!! They love each other, are nice to the bunnies and their vacuum.. and never do anything mean or racist.. what more can you ask!! I am not sure how a leap to homosexuality can be made - since they all wear a skirt at times and at no time does ANY tubbie come out and say I am a boy or girl... THEY ARE FAKE CREATURES and therefore can be any or no gender at all!

Editorial Review:

They may look like psychedelic couch potatoes, but the Teletubbies are nothing if not energetic. This 80-minute offering should inspire young humans to abandon the sofa for some stretching, light calisthenics, and strenuous renditions of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." The first part concentrates on legitimate exercise (i.e., stand up, sit down, side stretches), with one Tubby demonstrating the activity, the speaker announcing "ready, set, go," and then all four Tubbies completing the exercise (often followed by a group hug). This gives young viewers plenty of opportunity to follow along. At the end the Tubbies do some free-form dancing while wearing funny hats. The second part concentrates on the aforementioned body-parts song, with ample footage of real children participating--as well as British bobbies, firefighters, rugby players, and a dance class. Even the Tubbies' vacuum cleaner joins the classic childhood ritual--as well as a vacuum cleaner can. Ages 1 to 6. --Kimberly Heinrichs
