Better than the show it has become 4 out of 5 stars.
14 of 15 people found this review helpful.

The first Real World was fascinating because it took 7 people who each had their own ambitions and wanted to take on New York City and become artists: a dancer, a model, a rapper, a poet, a folk singer, a grunge singer, and a painter. They had issues with each other, there was a little in-house romance, and the whole series was more compelling and interesting. The show really is about 7 people confronting real world issues and problems, and being young adults.

Watching it made me really sick about what the show has become-- an extended spring break for college kids with three priorities-- taking their clothes off, having sex with each other, and getting drunk. Don't get me wrong, I like all of those things, and enjoyed doing them in college very much. But as a TV show, it is SO MUCH BETTER when the cast members have real reasons for being there, and lives to pursue outside of hangovers and hooking up.

I miss the music, but all in all, this is a wonderful glimpse into reality TV before it got too TV to be real, overrun by attention whores living on islands, running amazing races, working for Donald Trump, swapping wives, and singing for Simon Cowell.

The Death of the Real World 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 14 people found this review helpful.

I'll first start out by saying this. I have religiously watched the Real World since it began. Along with millions of other viewers. It has been one of those captivating little shows that spark your curiousity. But, Las Vegas by far has been my favorite season. It also brought the "metaphorical" death to the real world. Las Vegas had the most beautiful cast, the most sex, alcohol, fights, and for a first, there was no homosexual thrown in the mix. (Not that I'm against any of the above listed things. LOL) But, all of those things are the cause of its death. It was just an explosion of this excess and hedonism and sense of "fakeness" that runied the real worlds that follow. Paris-sucked, San Diego-sucked, Philladelphia-sucks at the moment. I would have honestly been quite happy if the Real World would have just ended with Las Vegas. It should have been the great ending. It is an awesome mix of many things. Its over the top and I love it. When you watch it, you will believe me. The DVD set is great. And amazon.com is the best place that has the lowest price for it. I really hope that the MTV producers get on the ball and start releasing the other seasons. Enjoy this season. For it is the true last Real World.

Boring 1 out of 5 stars.
7 of 10 people found this review helpful.

Who really liked this cast? They were uninteresting, and "un" real. It looked like MTV spent too much time making sure they got the black people, the whites, and the weirdo's! I'm really liking the Chicago cast much better!! Someone to actually relate to! Fun people in their 20's who are trying NOT to get along! NO more CORA! The house tour was pretty good though on the DVD version. If you REALLY REALLY liked this cast, it may be worth it for this and the Hampton scenes otherwise, wait for Real World Chicago.

Not Worth the Money 1 out of 5 stars.

I am a hardcore Real World fan. There is only about 45 minutes of additional footage and not much is really interesting. It is something you'll watch once and probably not watch again.

The Best Season Ever 5 out of 5 stars.

I thought that this was the best season in the many wonderful years of the Real World.Never has there been three African-American cast members in a real world castat the same time! I was very happy with this season because myself and lots of people I know could see a piece of themselves in the the cast and relate to them more so than other casts.

DISAPPOINTING 1 out of 5 stars.
26 of 29 people found this review helpful.

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD. IT IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. ALL NUDITY IS BLOCKED THEY EVEN BLEEP SOME OF THE CUSS WORDS. IT'S JUST STUPID [stuff] THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT ON TO THE SHOW, SOME OF IT'S FUNNY, BUT NOT WORTH BUYING. THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE REAL WORLD'S SO I KNOW IF THIS ONE [is bad] THE OTHERS MUST BE WORSE.

Editorial Review:

Much titillation is promised in this hour-long program, a sort of retrospective get-together with the seven participants from the Las Vegas version of MTV's The Real World. But promising isn't quite the same as delivering, so those looking for loads of nudity and steamy sex--i.e., "the extras that were too hot for MTV to air"--are probably in for a disappointment. There's much discussion of such fascinating topics as breaking wind, snoring, burping, and, of course, sex, as Arissa, Alton, Brynn, and the others sit around rehashing their experiences, but due to the magic of video masking, precious little is actually seen. In the end, this is a package that will no doubt appeal to fans of this guilty-pleasure show, but it's hard to imagine how anyone else could get too hot and bothered, or even interested. --Sam Graham

Where's The Bloopers????? 1 out of 5 stars.

Nothing new here......snippets of "The Real World You Never Saw" from the previous seasons.....I Want My [money] back!!!!

bloopers? 2 out of 5 stars.
14 of 15 people found this review helpful.

I always thought the definition of bloopers was something that went "wrong" while filming. On this DVD there is very little of that. What we get most are collections of rare clips that most have already been shown through other Real World You Never Saw DVDs. Nothing really that new here. Puck seems very tame here as the host as he talks with some random people about what their favorite things that the Real Worlders have done (most of the bonus "bloopers" are of Puck while they were taping him for this DVD/Video). Even though the other "You Never Saw" DVDs were lacking, I still found them enjoyable. This DVD, however, is the weakest of the bunch, and offered very little new entertainment.

The Real World You've Already Seen 2 out of 5 stars.
9 of 11 people found this review helpful.

For all the real Real World Fans...you have already seen this DVD... This video is a collaboration of The Real World You Never Saw Hawaii, New Orleans, Chicago, and Back to New York. There are a few clips from other specials, but for the most part, there is nothing new here. There are a few bloopers (not the tripping and tongue twisters you expected) most of them of Puck. Puck doesn't really host the show, but asks people on the street what their favorite body function is or what their favorite real world moment was. Puck isn't the obnoxious, unpredictable person he used to be, and has grown up quite a bit.

ignore the other reviews 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 17 people found this review helpful.

if you haven't seen this movie yet, rent it before you buy it. "real world" as a concept in general isn't everyone's cup of tea.

here's my spin on the unreality-reality of this thing: a lot of other reviewers have claimed this movie is "fake". as opposed to what? the real world TV series is the most convoluted, fake-reality show ever conceived! 7 roommates are chosen for their physical appeal and likelihood of causing dramatic hi-jinks for the benefit of MTV's advertisers. i'm not complaining about it - the show is mindless and fun entertainment - but let's be honest about what we're talking about here.

as for the movie itself, well, i'm in the camp that says if you buy a DVD before you've seen the movie, if you don't like it you have nothing to complain about. video rental places exist for a reason. use them!

good movie. give it a chance.

Even I, a huge RW fan, hated it! 1 out of 5 stars.

Okay, it was kind of interesting at first, but then the whole movie and its supposed quality just dropped like the stock market. I felt ashamed that I had seen it and wasted 2 hrs of my life watching it. I felt even more ashamed that MTV actually made it.

Young people are always searching for Mr. or Ms. Right, but the search fails more often than it succeeds. Most people can quietly banish memories of their failures, but cast members on "The Real World" have their romances recorded and aired for the entire world to see. This one-hour exclusive DVD will show clips of the past 12 seasons of "The Real World;" and former cast members, now older and hopefully a little wiser, will comment on what went wrong (or right), what they learned from their experiences and offer up advice on HOOKING UP!

Editorial Review:

This collection of behind-the-scenes capers provides Real World fans even more of their favorite vicarious thrills, watching the residents of the Big Easy's Belfort House flirt, fight, and have fun. Mostly fun. Lots of it. In after-show interviews that seem designed to encourage dirt dishing, Julie, Matt, Kelley, Danny, David, Melissa, and Jamie spend most of their time laughing at themselves--and luckily, the laughter is infectious. Hidden-camera footage and crew bloopers show the cast members at their most hilarious, proving they're not only smart enough to see through the show's manipulation of reality, but smart enough to have fun with it. Just like real life, much of the accidental humor centers around bodily functions and frustrated sex drives, and some viewers might be turned off by the spy-cam montage of nose picking, or the mindlessly drunk Mardi Gras antics of the Belfort crew. But this show is really saved by characters who are just that--characters. Melissa's hysterical impressions of her own parents (who show up in person later) might be worth the price of the video alone. --Grant Balfour

Short and Boring 2 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I enjoy watching the Real World on MTV, so I was looking forward to viewing this DVD.

Some of the segments were boring.

I was disappointed because the DVD is too short. MTV records the cast 24/7 so you'd think there would be more footage to share on this DVD. Not so.

Weak Effort for a Good Season 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

i wasn't expecting much when i purchased this dvd (after all, the main feature only runs a scant 44 minutes) and after viewing it my expectations were not wrong. Some of the material edited here are just plain boring (The Lobster Game, The bird that flew into the Loft...WHO CARES) to the briefly covered (escapades in the group showers segments lasts a mere 1 minute!). Compared with past RWYNS discs, this is a weak effort and replay value is minimal. Again, the topics covered are not as compelling or funny as previous editions. It's such a shame coming from a good cast. I've always considered it strange that these RWYNS discs are released singular from a complete season set for the respective season when the RWYNS Dvds should be and are the bonus features found on similar tv show boxed sets. Even though with its shortcomings, the disc has some easter eggs that are pretty funny albeit short, at 14 seconds a piece ( i see a trend here).

A Fun Group of People 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I didn't like this one as much as the Back to New York DVD but it was pretty good. They show lots of Ace, Adam and Christina so if you like them then you'd probably enjoy this DVD. There are a surprising amount of extras and I definitely think this is worth the money if you enjoyed the Paris season.

Editorial Review:

THE REAL WORLD YOU NEVER SAW: PARIS takes viewers along on the cast members' juicy escapades and romantic roller coasters. Leah (New Yorker, fashionista and center of attention), Mallory (athletic virgin waiting for true love) and Simon (gay Irish model trying to stay faithful to his boyfriend) share a room, CT (confident bartender) and Adam (Beverly Hills musician) bunk together, while Christina (jet-setting cocktail waitress with a criminal justice degree) shares a room and potentially more with Ace (Southern frat boy who runs three businesses). The City of Light, is also the city of romance as viewers are drawn into the seven roommates' dramatic crushes, flirtations, and secret trysts. With cultural and language shock, deadlines for travel guide writing assignments and the usual cat fights thrown in, THE REAL WORLD YOU NEVER SAW: PARIS is a thrilling treat in voyeurism.
