Editorial Review:

"Wanted: Dead or Alive", the hit television series that launched the career of Steve McQueen ("Bullitt", "The Getaway, "The Thomas Crown Affair") in 1958 as gentleman bounty hunter Josh Randall. The character, originally introduced in an episode of the television Western Trackdown, was so popular that the production company created "Wanted: Dead or Alive" so that McQueen could reprise the role of Randall. Josh Randall was not a typical rough-hewn bounty hunter of the Old West; he was a consummate gentleman who always gave half - or even all - of his reward money to charity. He was a man of few words, and, unlike most bounty hunters, he carried neither a shotgun nor a rifle but rather an 1892 Winchester lever action pistol, which he wore on his belt and fondly called his "Mare's leg." Josh Randall's catch phrase, "Let's go," launched him into unforgettable, classic Western adventures. Steve McQueen fans - and fans of classic television - will have a chance to see the early work of such Hollywood luminaries as Steve McQueen as Josh Randall, along with James Coburn Martin Landau, Dyan Cannon and many more.* Over one hour of bonus features including seven new featurettes! * An all-star list of guest stars including Steve's MAGNIFICENT SEVEN co-star James Coburn, Mary Tyler Moore, Cloris Leachman, Richard Farnsworth and Noah Berry Jr. (The Rockford Files) * This set includes episodes directed by Richard Donner (LETHAL WEAPON and THE GOONIES) Special Features: Wanted Dead or Alive Season 3 DVD Box set includes all 26 episodes plus extras including The Art of the Replica Featurette(4:43) Mare's Leg Featurette (8:38) The Women of the Series Featurette (9:55) Reckless Featurette (8:40) The Winchester Featurette (8:16) Autry National Center Featurette (17:52) Matchmaker Featurette (7:47)

Near Perfect 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Rare in this day and time do you find ANY series than can hold your undivided attention for one season, much less three. The Sopranos, though
great, had almost as many lowlights as highlights, but Deadwood has near perfection in every single chapter. A superb cast of mostly unknown or quality bit players, with two or three notable exceptions, make this exciting period of American frontier history burst to life in vivid, colorful (to say the least) action and language. Times were hard, tough, and your friends were good friends and your enemies were deadly.
Some parts are better than others, depending on personal taste and interest, but in my personal opinion, there is not one single episode that hasn't got a touch of superior acting, great humor, or gut-wrenching action attached to it, most have an abundance of all three.
For some of these actors, this series may be the crowning achievement of their professional lives. There are far worse fates !!!
Though not inexpensive, I personally feel its money well spent !!!

Head 'em up and move 'em out! More please! 5 out of 5 stars.

I waited years to get my hands on the complete series' of this all time great western series RAWHIDE. Eric Fleming was a great star and actor. I understand that HE was the original one who was asaked to play "The man with no name" - he passed on it and handed it to Clint to see if it interested him - the rest is history. Of course this was a few more years down the line, there are many more great episodes and seasons to enjoy yet. Can't wait to get my hands on season 3. It's a bit of a shame that Clint is given the highlight on the covers when to be honest it was Eric Flemings AND Clint's show ... in that order.

Great Stuff 5 out of 5 stars.

This is much better than the reruns you see on TV. The clarity is so good that you will really enjoy and see how great a show rawhide was.

Rawhide has the best sound track 4 out of 5 stars.

The first thing to strike you is the great background sound of this program. The singing of the song by Frankie Laine and the score being presented by Dmitri Tonkin of High Noon fame is of the highest quality. The picture and sound is great. The acting is excellent and stories are very simple but very entertaining and I recommend it for viewing by all.

oh, no. please don't go to the volumes. 3 out of 5 stars.

This show is a classic, and the Season 1 DVD was great. The second season however has not been given as much care. The cheaper packaging and volume 1 only release makes me think the first did not sell very well and Paramount was not willing to throw more money at the franchise if it did not show continuing interest. So if you are a western fan or Clint Eastwood fan, go out and buy this to show the studio that there is a market and they will continue to release the future installments of Clint and the Gang.

paramount gets greedy 5 out of 5 stars.

Rawhide is one of the greatest tv shows of all time. Paramount has decided to split the seasons, which of course gets Paramount more money. I'll buy volume 2 when it comes out in december, which speaks of the quality of the show. However this is a disturbing trend which also happened to the second season of The Big Valley from Fox

I will admit that I couldn't wait for the combined set, so I bought them individually & loved every minute of each episode! I'm impatiently awaiting the release of season three...when do we get 'em, Paramount?? :D

OVERPRICED IDIOCY 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Simply put...

Rawhide is a classic but the price is sheer "overpriced idiocy/insanity"...ridiculous - $72.00 (volumes 1 and 2) for what should be half that.

The majority of consumers can see through the B.S. (and if they have an
iota of common sense won't take the bait) Consumer/market demand (for complete seasons) and the fact every thing on DVD is being released and re-released as collector's edition, deluxe edition, platinum edition etc., exemplifies yet another example of studios gone amuck and craftfully "raking it in," from those falling for the marketing scheme. It is only a matter of time (and sooner rather than later) that the complete seasons of what is now being released in "volume 1 and volume 2 nonsense" will be "it."...Most seasons of television series available on the market are released as complete seasons, and participating studios in the multi-volume idiocy will backfire (cash register won't ring)

Listening Paramount?...Time to wake up...big time.

For casual fans of "The Rifleman" 3 out of 5 stars.
13 of 13 people found this review helpful.

This three episode collection issued by Alpha Video contains the same three episodes that have been issued by various companies specializing in public domain material; in fact, if you already own any DVDs of the Chuck Connors Western "The Rifleman," be sure to compare the episodes on your discs with those contained on Alpha's so as to avoid possible duplication. The episodes include "Outlaw's Inheritance," "Day of the Hunter," and "Mail Order Groom." For casual fans of the series who would like to include a few episodes in their classic TV collection, this DVD will fit the bill nicely. But serious fans of "The Rifleman" will want to check out the various official DVD box sets issued by MPI for the best episode selection and best audio/visual quality.

Trivia Note: John Anderson guest stars in two of the episodes, "Day of the Hunter" and "Mail Order Groom." These two episodes were originally broadcast just a week apart!

EXTREMELY SLOOOOWWWW - ONLY 2 DAUGHTERS 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Extremely slow with about 1/2 dialogue of the original Little House series with Michael Landon. No fooling. In my opinion it would of been more entertaining to have more dialogue instead of minutes of Laura walking with leaves and having the leaves on her bare feet, or Pa driving the wagon, or the undercarriage of the wagon - with no dialogue. Show is Ma and Pa Ingalls with Laura and Mary - no Carrie or Grace. BORING especially compared to the original series. You have been warned!

Editorial Review:

Marking a return to the autobiographical books by renowned author Laura Ingalls Wilder, Disney's epic production of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE celebrates the magnificent and heartwarming story of a pioneer family's brave travels into the untamed American heartland. The majesty and grandeur of the frontier come alive with breathtaking cinematography and a host of classic characters. Disney's critically acclaimed miniseries chronicles the magical adventures of the Ingalls family as they stake their claim to a rugged parcel of land on the Kansas prairie. Their exciting journey brings them face-to-face with mysterious Indians, wild animals and their peculiar new neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Scott. Spend some quality time with "a fine family drama," says the New York Daily News. Presented on two DVDs, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE is hours of rousing entertainment for everyone.
