Even though Michael Landon wasn't in every ep, his spirit could always been seen 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

In Season 9 "Little House on the Prairie" went through many changes. The title was renamed, "Little House: A New Beginning." Then the cast changed, drastically. Charles and his family moved to the city and the little house saw a new family. The Wilder's took in their orphan-niece, Jenny; played by a very young 90210-star, Shannen Doherty. Even though Michael Landon wasn't in every ep, his spirit could be seen in every single show!

This was the last season. Over the next couple of years there were 3 TV movies produced, which are sometimes called Season 10; however that is technically incorrect. These movies are rarer in syndication since they're longer than an hour, however they are available for purchase, Little House on the Prairie - Special Edition Movie Boxed Set (Look Back to Yesterday / Bless All the Dear Children / The Last Farewell). Michael Landon set the bar of excellence so high that no can has ever been able to match him!

These are the main characters from Season 9:

Laura Elizabeth Ingalls Wilder (Melissa Gilbert)
Isaiah Edwards (Victor French)
Harriet Oleson (Katherine "Scottie" MacGregor)
Nels Oleson (Richard Bull)
Dr. Hiram Baker (Jason Hagan)
Reverend Robert Alden (Dabbs Greer)
Hester-Sue Terhune (Ketty Lester)
Almanzo James Wilder (Dean Butler)
Jenny Wilder (Shannen Doherty)
Willie Oleson (Jonathan Gilbert)
Nancy Oleson (Allison Balson)
Etta Plum (Leslie Landon)
Sarah Carter (Pamela Roylance)
John Carter (Stan Ivar)
Jeb Carter (Lindsay Kennedy)
Jason Carter (David Friedman)
Matthew Rogers (Jonathan Hall Kovacs)
Rose Wilder (Jennifer & Michelle Steffin)

Here's all the Season 9 eps:

Times are Changing (1) 9/27/1982
This show is very appropriately titled. Charles says goodbye to his daughter and son-in-law and his old friends. A new family takes over the Ingalls' little house. Meanwhile, Almazo's bother, Royal, comes for a visit with his daughter.

Times are Changing (2) 10/4/1982
Devastated by her father's death, Jenny tries to take her own life. Laura convinces her that the best way she can honor her parents' memory is to live a full and happy life.

Welcome To Olesonville 10/11/1982
Mrs. Oleson finds some old bonds in an estate that she purchased (the beloved Lars Hanson.) She tells the town that she will not cash them in as long as she can change some of the town's rules to best suit her own selfish needs.

Rage 10/18/1982
Mr. Stark goes crazy and shoots his wife and daughter. Then he takes Laura, Jenny and the baby hostage.

Little Lou 10/25/1982
A little person comes to Walnut Grove with his very-pregnant wife. He applies for a job at the Mercantile however doesn't get it and is force to steal. When the town's resident bigot, Harriet Oleson, finds out she tries to get him arrested.

The Wild Boy (1) 11/1/1982
Dr. McQueen comes to Walnut Grove displaying the "Wild Boy of the North." When the "Wild Boy" escapes he takes refuge in the Wilders' barn where Jenny meets him first. She learns that he isn't wild at all. Mr. Edwards takes Matthew in and Doc. Baker reveals that the child was severally abused. Laura and Jenny teach Matthew sign-language since he cannot speak. Nancy and Harriet Oleson conspire to report the news of Matthew's "capture" to Dr. McQueen who is offering a $50. reward.

The Wild Boy (2) 11/8/1982
Dr. McQueen comes back to take Matthew with him. When Edwards doesn't budge there is a court trail. The judge finally rules that McQueen doesn't have any rights over Matthew.

The Return Of Nellie 11/15/1982
Everyone is excited because Nellie (Alison Arngrim) comes home and makes a big splash. Nancy is more hateful and jealous than usual and runs away because of her resentment towards her older sister.

The Empire Builders 11/22/1982
A railroad comes to Walnut Grove but after seeing the repercussions, the townspeople don't think it's as good as they originally thought. Note: there was a TV movie similar to this plot.

Love 11/29/1982
One of Laura's old friends moves back to Walnut Grove. She takes a liking to Mr. Edwards who also falls in love with her. The only problem is she is much younger and blind.

Alden's Dilemma 12/6/1982
A new minister comes to town that threatens Reverend Alden.

Marvin's Garden 1/3/1983
Dr. Garden cannot renew his medical license because of his failing eyesight. Meanwhile after a devastating accident, Jenny experiences partial paralysis and speech deficiencies. And the two befriend each other. Note: this is the first and only time in the entire history of this series that a second practice in Walnut Grove was ever noted.

Sins Of The Fathers 1/10/1983
All of Sarah's work of putting together a respectable newspaper are dashed when her father comes for a visit. With the help of Harriet Oleson (who else,) Elliot Reed (John McLiam) prints some malicious gossip about a neighbor in town. Sarah then has to face that fact that she is a grown woman who cannot be bossed around by her father, anymore.

The Older Brothers 1/17/1983
This is somewhat of a screwball ep. The Older Brothers take several members of town as hostages. When they realize that there is a reward being offered for their capture, they turn themselves in for the money, but they are in for a surprise.

Once Upon A Time 1/24/1983
After substituting for Miss Plumb, Laura realizes that she wants to do more with her life. So she sets out to write her memoirs. For some reason, this ep doesn't show up too often on TV.

Home Again (Part 1) 2/7/1983
Home Again Part 1 & Part 2 are likely the very best eps of Season 9. It starts out with Charles (of course played by the legend, Michael Landon) at his new place of business. He is informed that his son, Albert (Matthew Laborteaux) was arrested for stealing. Charles is able to get the charges dropped. But he has to do something with his son. Albert is out of control. He has changed so much. What can Charles do to help him? He decides to get him out of the environment that he's in and take him back to Walnut Grove. However, Albert is holding onto a dark secret that no one knows about.

Home Again (Part 2) 2/7/1983
At first Charles convinces himself that Albert is doing better in his new surroundings. However, eventually Doc Baker and Charles find out that Albert is addicted to morphine. Charles confronts his son. At first, Albert is indignant saying, "why do you care?" Charles tells him that he's his son and he loves him. So, Albert agrees to give up the morphine and the following day Charles gives Doc Baker the good news and apologizes for all the trouble that Albert has caused. As usual, Doc Baker tells Charles that no apology is necessary. That same day at school Albert goes berserk. He beats up the Carter boy and even clocks poor Miss Plumb in the face! Charles finally has to face that fact that his son has a serious addiction and they take to Edwards' cabin for a long retreat.

A Child With No Name 2/14/1983
Laura gives birth to a baby boy who tragically passes away soon after his birth. Laura blames her newborn baby's death on Doc Baker. When Rose comes down with an illness Doc Baker is able to save her life and Lauren sees the foolishness of her actions.

For The Love Of Blanche 3/7/1983
This is a really funny show. Mr. Edwards takes in Blanche. A cute little 3-year old orangutan!

The Last Summer 2/21/1983
Upset that he cannot get his mother a nice gift for her birthday, Jason takes a job working for an elderly woman who is dying. Ruthy Leland (Vera Miles) gives him a very lavish gift for his mother. Sarah's nose is a little out of joint when her son is spending so much time at Ruthy's home. Once it is revealed that Ruthy doesn't have much time left Sarah relents.

May I Have This Dance? 3/14/1983
A lot of changes take effect during this ep. An old (and very wealthy) friend of Laura's passes away. But not before she gets Laura to agree to take her large home and estate. Laura and Almanzo set out to turn the large home into a rooming house. Meanwhile, Willie is graduating high school and Harriet has big dreams for him. But Willie is intent on staying in town and marrying Rachael Brown (Sherri Stone.) Willie finally stands up to his mother and Harriet is finally put in her place.

Hello and Goodbye 3/21/1983
Mr. Sherwood Montague (played by the legendary Robert Casper,) a famous author, comes to stay at Laura's after he sees the substandard accommodations that Harriet tried to pawn off on him. It was never established, but many have said that Mr. Montague was h-o-m-o-se-x-u-a-l. Perhaps, the only openly-g-a-y person in Walnut Grove? He said to Almanzo that he "never had a desire" for women/marriage. He was also rather eccentric, enjoyed cooking, was rather effeminate and was very soft-spoken; at least compared to the manly-men in town. Also, there was somewhat of a chemistry between Mr. Montague and Isaiah Edwards; notice how they enjoyed arguing with each other but still enjoyed being in each other's company. Also notice the way these two looked at each other... ...Meanwhile, Matthew's father comes back to Walnut Grove and wants to take his son back with him. At first, Isaiah doesn't trust him, but then realizes that he is being selfish by preventing Matthew from being with his father. Edwards decides to move in to Laura's rooming house, as well. I'm sure if there aren't enough beds, Mr. Montague would gladly share his. But Mr. Edwards was married, so I'm sure he doesn't swing that way... Just ask Larry Craig.

Dr Quinn medicine woman second season 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I always enjoyed the Dr.Quinn series. One of the best episodes is found in season two., where Mike and Sully end up in Boston and find they love each other. I am very pleased to beable to buy each season separately, from amazon.com

Editorial Review:

In an age when women are expected to be seen but not heard, Dr. Michaela "Mike" Quinn is a renegade, an independent spirit who forsakes her home in genteel Boston for the rough-and-tumble life of the frontier. But the prejudice she encountered back east pales in comparison to the challenges awaiting in Colorado Springs...

Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman breathed new life into a tired genre and brought families together around the TV for six seasons with its refreshing take on the Western, blending a distinctly modern sensibility with painstaking historical authenticity and tales of courage, conviction and romance.

This collection features all 25 episodes from the third season of the five-time Emmy Award winner starring Jane Seymour and Joe Lando, available on DVD for the first time.

Outstanding First Season 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The DVD of The Wild Wild West First Season is absolutely great. It is in Black & White which is a big plus for me, but others should at least know as they may not be as thrilled. I also own Season Two which I found to be a bit disappointing. Season One has all the action, great villains with their ingenious plots and of course, the babes. Highly Recommended, this DVD collection is a must have for all fans.

The Legendary Series returns 5 out of 5 stars.

POOR protection for DVDs 1 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Warning, all 13 DVDs are stuffed in cheap cardboard slots. Most of my disks were scratched by their initial insertion. For the price I paid, they should have provided better protection for the disks.

Also, based on the length, these are edited episodes, they are about 3 minutes shorter than the standard 50's running time.

Days of old 5 out of 5 stars.

Product was just great. DVD quality was great. So good to watch something and not have to worry if my grandson came in the room. I grew up with the Lone Ranger and it was always a treat to listen to the radio and hear the the song come on. Brings back great memories of my child hood

Editorial Review:

Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear...when with one jaunty call, "Hi-Yo, Silver!" the Lone Ranger solidified his role as America's favorite hero of the Wild West. Mounted atop a white stallion, he remains a steadfast symbol for truth and justice, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations of fans. Celebrate the Lone Ranger's 75th anniversary with this 13-disc collector's edition DVD, featuring seasons 1 & 2 of the original TV series.

The Actors Find Their Characters 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The lead actors have all found their characters by the second half of Season 2. They seem to wear their TV personas like comfortable old coats. For those of you who are not familiar with the radio series that gave rise to the TV encarnation, give special attention to the episode entitled "Skid Row". It will give you an idea of the kind of adult approach to the western for which it was famous. It was writing like this that set Gunsmoke apart from all other 50's westerns. I can't wait for the release of Season 3. I wish they would go back to the full season sets. I don't object to the increase in price, just to having the season broken up and the series' release delayed.

Wild Wild West season 4 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have purchased all 4 seasons that have been released of the tv series The Wild, Wild West. I love the show and the stars. They are neatly packaged and easy to view.

I am however extremely disappointed in the lack of special features after the first season was released. Mr. Martin and Mr. Conrad deserve better. As someone who has put about 120$ into the DVD's, I deserve better. Shame on the company that is putting these DVD's together. You owe me a special DVD of extras in my opinion.

I think the price is too much for what you receive. Drop the price or increase the extra's.

Wild Wild West Season 4 5 out of 5 stars.

Editorial Review:

James West and Artemus Gordon are two agents of President Grant who take their splendidly appointed private train through the west to fight evil. Half science fiction and half western, the Artemus designs a series of interesting gadgets for James that would make Inspector Gadget proud. A light hearted adventure series.

I have a 4yr old boy and a 6yr old girl and cant tell you enough about how much we enjoyed this movie especially over the Christmas season. The plots are clean yet interesting and teach us the true meanings of Christmas. These shows are a great lesson on working on conflict resolution and how simple life could be. I only wish television could be this clean again.

Editorial Review:

16 DVD Box Set- The Complete Color Season! One of the longest running and most popular of all the television westerns, Wagon Train topped the ratings for eight seasons in the late 1950s and 1960s. Inspired by John Ford's classic 1950 film, Wagon Master, Wagon Train debuted on Wednesday, September 18, 1957 on the NBC Television network. Ward Bond, who starred in Wagon Master, re-created his role from the film as Wagon Master Major Seth Adams. He was joined by costars Robert Horton as Head Scout Flint McCullough, Frank McGrath as the cook Charlie Wooster, and Terry Wilson as Assistant Wagon Master Bill Hawks, who all brought their skills as horsemen as well as wonderful western actors to the show, giving Wagon Train a special, western flavor. Each well-crafted episode focused on a personal story of courage and perseverance of not just the main cast, but of the westward-bound emigrants as they made the perilous journey by Conestoga wagon from the banks of the Mississippi to California's Pacific shores in the face of great odds. The cast was joined each week by Hollywood's brightest stars in guest roles. The ensemble acting, wonderful scripts and great western scenery soon made Wagon Train a fixture in American homes on Wednesday nights, as millions of Americans of all ages tuned in to NBC for classic family entertainment. When Ward Bond passed away during the 4th season, he was replaced by John McIntire as Christopher Hale, who took over as the new Wagon Master, a role he played till the series ended in 1965. There were other cast changes as well. Denny Scott Miller took on the role of assistant scout Duke Shannon in 1961, and when Robert Horton left the show in 1963, the producer Howard Christie brought in Robert Fuller (Laramie) as the new scout, Cooper Smith. Christie also brought Michael Burns onboard the wagon train as Barnaby West, a teenager looking for his lost father on the trail. One-time stunt man Frank McGrath's character Charlie Wooster, Wagon Train's irrepressible cook, was the only cast member to remain with the show for its entire run. Another big change to Wagon Train in 1963, its 7th season, was the expansion from a one-hour format in black and white, to 90 minutes in color. In its longer format, the 7th season combined both expanded story lines and remarkable color photography of the scenic western landscape, and allowed for greater character and plot line development. Guest stars continued to grace Wagon Train, including performances by Barbara Stanwyck, Ronald Reagan, Peter Falk, Suzanne Pleshette, Bruce Dern, Rhonda Fleming, Burgess Meredith, Neville Brand, Annette Funicello and many, many more! These 32 color episodes of that 7th season are fully restored and mastered from the original NBC Universal masters by TMG, which is proud to present them for the first time on DVD. Bonus DVDs: 16 Classic Episodes of Wagon Train on 4 DVD discs - These classic episodes of Wagon Train span the entire series, from Season 1 with Ward Bond and Robert Horton, to season 8, when the series returned to a one-hour, black and white format with John McIntire, Robert Fuller and Denny Scott Miller. Reproduced from NBC Universal's original masters, these 16 black and white episodes have never before been released on DVD. Many fine guest stars appear in these stories of the great westward migration of the 1800s, including Anne Bancroft, Harry Carey Jr., Dan Duryea, Harry Von Zell and Ann Sheridan. Bonus DVD: Interviews - An exclusive look behind the scenes with two of Wagon Train's most memorable actors, Robert Fuller and Denny Scott Miller, who played Scout Cooper Smith and Duke Shannon. These two stars speak freely about the family of creative people who brought you Wagon Train, from the wranglers and stunt men, to the stars and the producers of the hit series.

A show about family values, simply best-in-class 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The Big Valley is one of the shows that had "formative powers." At an early age, I left Cuba alone and traveled through Mexico to the United States. While alone in Mexico, I missed my family and our way of life back in Punta de la Sierra, a farm located in Pinar del Rio, which is the westernmost province of Cuba.

The show became my passion, a look into life on a ranch where a big family confronted daily challenges with such courage that it was riveting and filled with suspense. The Barkley family shared values of honor, loyalty, respect and decency and the show allowed for my continued growth, seeing through the Barkley's, the family I no longer had with me.

As Victoria Barkley, Barbara Starwyck was the widowed matriarch figure, guiding this wealthy family as they evolved in Stockton, California during the latter part of the 19th Century. She has two sons and a daughter: Jarrod Thomas Barkley, played by Richard Long, Nick Barkley, played by Peter Breck and Audra, played by Linda Evans.

The series starts by a third son, Heath, played by Lee Majors, joining the family, but he is not the son of Victoria Barkley. He struggles to belong and claim what is rightfully his, a place by the side of his brothers and sister, and it is remarkable to see how they incorporate him to the family and how Victoria embraces this young man, providing the love necessary to inspire a relationship as deep as that which she shares with her blood line.

During a marathon played this weekend, we were delighted to see great stars such as Richard Dreyfuss, Bruce Dern, Charles Bronson, Diane Baker, Milton Berle, John Carradine, Johnny Crawford, Robert Goulet, Buddy Hackett, Dennis Hopper, Ron Howard, Jill St. John, Martin Landau, George Kennedy, Lou Rawls, William Shatner and others.

We highly recommend owning this series and watching it with your family and as you see the different episodes, take the time to discuss the value system that shaped the west. The Big Valley offers the opportunity for growth required today, a world where we have little if anything showing on TV that adds to the development of character. Don't miss seeing... The Big Valley!!!
